How do you navigate life’s changes, cliffs, transitions, and fog? I’m learning that what matters most isn’t avoiding them, but how you choose to move through them.

What am I reading? 📖

A book that’s been sitting on my shelf for almost six years: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind.

I first read this book when I graduated college, and now, years later, I’m reading it again with a completely different perspective.

One thing I’ve learned about myself is that whenever I feel a shift happening in my life, I start preparing my most important asset first: my mind.

Because before your life changes externally, something usually has to change internally.

I’m in a season of becoming very intentional about removing mental limitations, questioning beliefs I’ve unconsciously carried with me, and rejecting thoughts that contradict the life I’m working to create.

Sometimes the biggest thing standing between where we are and where we want to be isn’t opportunity, resources, or even ability. It’s the limitations we’ve accepted in our own minds about what’s possible for us.

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind is one of those books I know I’ll revisit in different seasons of my life because I’ll never be the same person reading it twice.

Right now, it’s my before-bed read every night. Less scrolling, more feeding my mind with thoughts that align with where I’m going. 🤎 by @itsericajohnsonx

📚 New Series: What I’m Reading

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the books you read quietly shape the way you see the world. They influence how you make decisions, solve problems, build businesses, and even define success. That’s why I’m starting a new series sharing the books currently on my nightstand and the lessons I’m taking away from them.

The first book is Why the Rich Are Getting Richer by Robert Kiyosaki, and it was recommended to me by a dear friend who constantly challenges me to think bigger, live healthier and fuller, and pursue a life of intention. I’m so grateful they introduced me to this book because it completely shifted the way I think about money, taxes, and financial literacy.

One of the biggest takeaways is that financial literacy isn’t just about earning more income. It’s about understanding how money works. Kiyosaki explains the difference between thinking like an employee and thinking like an entrepreneur or investor. He breaks down why cash-flowing assets matter, how taxes are often the biggest expense most people never learn to manage or completely eliminate (legally), and why building wealth requires a different mindset than simply working harder for a paycheck.

The truth is, most of us were never taught these concepts in school. We learned how to earn money, but not necessarily how to make money work for us. That’s why I believe books like this are so valuable. They expose us to ideas that can completely change the trajectory of our financial future if we’re willing to learn and apply them.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a working professional, a student, or simply someone who wants to become more financially confident, I genuinely think this book is worth adding to your reading list.

Have you read it? If so, I’d love to hear your biggest takeaway. And if not, what’s one book that’s changed the way you think? by @itsericajohnsonx

Nobody tells ambitious women what is waiting for them on the other side of the grind.

We’re taught that if we work hard enough, sacrifice enough, and stay disciplined long enough, we’ll eventually arrive at this magical place where life finally feels complete. We picture ourselves standing at the finish line thinking, “I made it.” What no one prepares you for is realizing there is no finish line. There is only another mountain, another goal, another version of yourself waiting to be built.

I’ve learned that success is a beautiful thing, but it comes with a unique kind of loneliness that people don’t talk about enough. The more you grow, the harder it becomes to settle for relationships that no longer align with who you’ve become. Your standards naturally change, your priorities shift, and the conversations and people that once fulfilled you don’t always feel the same anymore. Sometimes it feels like you’re living between two worlds, no longer fitting into the life you left behind while still trying to find your place in the one you’re creating.

What surprised me most wasn’t the work it took to get here. It was realizing that money, accomplishments, and security can make life more comfortable but it doesn’t make your heart feel more full. They can buy freedom, but they can’t buy peace. They can create opportunities, but they can’t replace genuine connection.

I think as ambitious women we spend so much of our lives preparing for the future that we sometimes forget the future eventually becomes today. We become so focused on building a life worth living that we accidentally postpone living it. We tell ourselves we’ll slow down after the next promotion, after the next investment property, after the business reaches the next milestone, after we finally feel “successful.” But life has a funny way of reminding us that fulfillment was never supposed to be a destination waiting at the end of the journey. It was always hidden inside the journey itself.

There is something powerful about the people who refuse to quit.

Life will test you, delay you, disappoint you. It will make you question if you’re even on the right path. Most people don’t fail because they aren’t talented. They fail because they stop planting before the harvest has a chance to grow.

I recently bought a plant called Money Tree, and I learned why it’s called that.

A struggling farmer prayed every day for a breakthrough. One day, he found a few seeds in his home. Instead of overlooking them, he planted them. They grew into beautiful trees that people loved and continued to purchase, he eventually became very wealthy, changing his life forever.

His breakthrough wasn’t delivered to his front door.

It was already sitting inside his house as a seed.

That made me stop and think…

What seeds are already in your home?
What seeds are already in your mind?

Ideas.
Gifts.
Skills.
Relationships.
Experiences.
Knowledge.

Some of us keep praying for opportunities while sitting on everything we need to create one.

Plant the business.
Plant the book.
Plant the content.
Plant the investment.
Plant the dream you’ve been talking yourself out of.

Water it with consistency.
Protect it with discipline.
Be patient enough to let it grow.

One day, the very thing that looked small will become the blessing you were praying for.

Stay unstoppable.
Stay unmovable.
Your breakthrough might already be in your hands.

Now go plant those seeds… and get your coins. 🌱💰

Love y’all. 💗 by @itsericajohnsonx
