as mental health awareness month is coming to end, this is just a reminder that two things can be true at once. while healing/“treating” mental health is the responsibility of the carrier, it is our jobs as friends, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, humans, to be considerate of and patient with our fellow humans who are doing their best to undo what was wrongfully done to them ❤️‍🩹 #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessmonth by @itsgoddesssty

after 22 long, dark, lonely, and unpromising years, i have finally been blessed with the missing piece to the puzzle that is me. being estranged from your family is one thing, but being denied of them is a whole other void. my mother died when i was 10 months old, leaving me with my father. i was intentionally isolated from her entire side of the family, which now, as i go through adulthood, i have come to realize isolated me from an entire side of myself. as a girl who eventually would have to bloom into a woman, not being able to able to experience the woman who so lovingly gave 9 months of her life to create my vessel has been nothing short of agonizing. but to not get to experience the family from which she came???? so much of my life has been riddled with holes, what ifs, questions i never thought would be never be answered, confusion, frustration, anything else you can think of, i felt it. i was also not aware that i was isolated from them until this past year. so all this damn time i felt rejected by both sides of my family and just couldn’t understand what was so wrong with me that i didn’t deserve unconditional love, only to discover that an entire fountain of love had been patiently waiting for me with completely open arms. i still have so much to process and so much to work through, but i am not only at peace, but ready to start the next chapter of my life knowing that i am no longer alone and have my own built in support system 🥹 as much as my life journey has been about embracing my uniqueness, i am so relieved to discover that i am normal— i have a family and i am unconditionally loved, just like anyone else. i am eternally grateful for this experience and to learn that i am not destined to be alone in this life. i now know not only where i come from, but who i come from, and i am so proud of everything i am and everyone that i am 🥹

@__ilovene11__ you are an ethereal soul that can only be experienced once in a lifetime. you tell me all the time you see me as your little sister, and i’ve told you that you feel like more of a mother to me. we’re so similar in the ways that matter, and so easy in compromise where we aren’t. thank you so much for always being a safe space, your energy will return to you tenfold sooner than you think 🤎

this Juneteenth was nothing short of magical. in the midst of dancing like nobody’s watching, sweating my life away, and communing with old and new souls, i couldn’t help but feel connected to my ancestors. i felt like i was gyratin at the juke joint, lettin loose after a long day of sorrow and pain. some traditions never die. we are our ancestors and our ancestors are us. such a beautifully black experience that had been lying dormant in each one of us, Fresh Squeezed being the missing link, the catalyst. i was also reminded of Sinners, as i could feel not only the weight of the world lifting off my shoulders, but everyone else in that room as well. the night of Juneteenth was without a doubt the best night of my life thus far. i have never experienced such a euphoria, and i don’t know if i ever will in that way again. the healing in that venue on June 19, 2026 can never be duplicated or replaced, and for that, i will forever cherish it. Not only in my heart and mind, but in my body and soul. thank you @fresh.squeeze.d @djrawry904 @sabu.duh @kaijudoll your existence begets healing. thank you @choc.beam for capturing the true beauty of the night! special thanks and shoutout to DJ Kitty!! i originally didn’t want to go as i was tired with life. in hindsight, your set is the reason i ended up there. it all made sense when you hit the stage 🩷🦋 by @itsgoddesssty
