Rest easy, brother 🪽💔I’ve been searching for the words, and I’m having trouble summarizing what you’ve been through over the past 15 years.Hopeful, hopeless, happy, sad, encouraging, traumatizing, heavy. So heavy. All of the feelings you have when a family member is battling addiction.Growing up, I was fiercely protective of Dan. He wore big, thick circle glasses and was just the cutest ever—but he didn’t have it easy. I attribute my protection of him as part of the reason I am who I am today (straightforward, with zero tolerance for bullying).The Dan I choose to remember was quiet, kind, smart as hell, and truly wanted to find a way out. Dan was proud of the people he met along the way and the lives he impacted in a positive way.Dan’s hope in life was to become a pilot or join the military. His dreams were shattered when his eyesight disqualified him. My hope is that he’s up there now...flying among the planes, seeing the world free from anxiety and pain.Please surround Mom and Dad with so much love, because I don’t know how they’ll recover.You are free now.You are free ♥️ by @itsheatherkayleen

When I think of what a great dad looks like, I’ve never had to look any further than my own. He’s been taking care of things for me my whole life. I’m grateful to have a husband who does the same, but we miss “Timmy Tool Time” and his ability to fix absolutely anything.We’ve lived in our house for a year and a half and still haven’t found a contractor who is thorough, careful, and fair.Meanwhile, we’ve managed to rack up a 20-page “Timmy To Do” list full of things that were too time-consuming, tricky, or expensive for Ben and me to tackle on our own.And somehow, the things we put off for an entire year… he completed in one week. Happy Birthday Benny and Shay!!! 🎂 🎉 The best brother duo & best buds born one day apart! 🥰❤️Benny is 5 and he’s kind, caring, loving and everyone’s friend. He’s into every sport and it’s exciting watching him grow. Shay is 3 and he’s funny, energetic and always down for a good time. He’s the life of the party and truly just the best. Thankfully they let us celebrate their birthdays together because their birthday bashes are crazy 😜. This year Ben built them bunk beds for their gift. Life is just so so so much better with Benny and Shay!!! by @itsheatherkayleen

Being part of the team that brought @fireaidla to life has been one of my proudest career moments. It’s official… We are homeowners! What an incredible feeling 🥰🏡 To say it was “a journey to get here” would be the biggest of understatement. Inventory is low, prices are sky high. It felt damn near impossible. But we waited, we hustled, we planned for this, and we did it. We did it completely on our own. Not many people can say that—and we will wear it like a badge of honor (cause we have to lol)Here’s to many Sheeley family parties, a dedicated guest bedroom, and what should be more than enough space for us… for now 😜 (Thanks to @daniellowela for everything. Almost 4 months of late night calls and working after-hours to get this done!) by @itsheatherkayleen

Our little trooper ❤️ A week ago we never could have imagined that Shay would go in for a routine surgery and leave needing oxygen.Doctors determined Shay’s adenoids were filling his entire nose so he went in for an adenoidectomy and ear tubes. Easy, right? Apparently not. Night of surgery Shay’s oxygen levels were dropping all throughout the night. And this continued night after night after night. They finally discharged us so he could recover at home, but that means Ben and I have had to administer the oxygen every night 😮‍💨🤯To say it’s been one of the most challenging weeks for our family would be an understatement. Can you imagine having to hook up nasal tubes and administer a loud oxygen tank to a 13 month old baby? It’s been miserable. And worse than that, his numbers aren’t improving much. We are all so tired 😴 It’s clear to us he has sleep apnea. Next steps here are to get a sleep study so we can see the big picture of what’s going on. We think they should have just removed the tonsils too but what do we know 🤷🏼‍♀️We are working w/his team of doctors to monitor his nightly numbers, and remaining hopeful that day-by-day he will get better.Thank you to everyone who has reached out, all the sweet messages thinking of Shay, food deliveries to keep us fed, offers and willingness to help watch Benny, my Dad and Jackie for flying out here while we were in the hospital, etc. it doesn’t go unnoticed. We need all the help we can get right now 🫶🏼Bonus things that make this week extra *special* : my car got a flat tire the day we came home from the hospital and it’s STILL in the shop. Also Benny came down with said mystery illness of the week — bringing a 103 fever into the home 🫠😵‍💫🥴✌🏼 by @itsheatherkayleen

Today is Shay’s 1st birthday. Happy birthday bb boy!! 🥳🫶🏼Time has flown by and I can’t believe our baby is now a WALKING, talking, toddler. The universe looked at us and said “you guys must not be busy enough” and gave us another son, born the day after the first 🤷🏼‍♀️ But it’s all gravy, baby. Shay is the chillest, happiest boy.
