A 90 second glimpse into the life of one Britain’s most iconic, elusive, birds.

More often heard than seen, often just a flash of electric blue along rivers, lakes and canals.

I spent seven hours hidden beside the water, hoping to see a glimpse of this spectacular bird. I was not disappointed.

Attempt #2 at channelling my inner Attenborough🫡

A grey heron can stand motionless for minutes, waiting for the perfect opportunity. Every step is deliberate. Every ripple matters.

After putting together my first narrated wildlife sequence a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to have a go at telling another story but this time about one of Britain’s most patient hunters.

Still learning every time I head out with the camera, but that’s half the fun.

Channeling my inner David Attenborough… with considerably less experience, considerably less budget, and a considerably less godly voice.

A young treecreeper, filmed over half an hour in a small patch of woodland at Leighton Moss.

I arrived hoping to find bitterns and ospreys.

Instead, I found a story.

I think big Dave can rest easy, his job’s safe.
