“Wise men say only fools rush in but I can’t help falling in love with you”

The most cliche song to walk down the aisle to.

6 months dating. 6 months engaged. Your best friend who told you that proposing to me was a mistake. All the whispers as to why meeting you at 18 and marrying you at 19 was a dumb idea.... all of a sudden the lyrics to a chiche song sounded right.

We couldn’t help it.
We fell in love walking down the streets of Boston in the fall. 🍁🍁
And we decided to take on the world together.

I made $200 bucks a week as a church intern and saved just enough to put a wedding together for us to celebrate.
It was all we needed.
Having each other has always been all we needed.

Remember when kade was in icu and we bought mozzarella sticks to share for lunch bc it’s all we had money for in the cafe. They burnt them that there wasn’t even cheese inside so we ate the bread crumb crust of what was supposed to be Mozzarella sticks?
We didn’t care.
We had each other.

Remember when we would all sleep in one bed with kade bc to heat the house cost to much so we put sheets up in the door ways to block the cold, layered up and put our space heater on?
We didn’t care.
We had each other.

Remember when we had no cars and you would have to find rides to work each day and I would walk kade to the store and fill the stroller with groceries?
We didn’t care.
We had each other.

We’ve lived in a garage, a church, 500 sq ft as a family, basements, and houses.
We’ve conquered extremely hard battles that would tear most apart…
But it didn’t matter we had each other.

Remember when the people said too young, too poor, too fast, too stupid....
We didn’t care.
We had each other.

Maybe we did look like fools to quite a few people. But it never mattered. Little or much it never mattered. Sick or healthy- It never mattered. Laughing or crying it never mattered.

Because we had each other.

You gave me the best life.
The highs and lows are both my greatest memories.
And as long as I get to experience leaves changing in the fall with you for another year- I am happy. ❤️

There’s something really special about watching a new dream come to life in a space that once held so much of ours. 🥹

We closed the doors to Bloom Again in July, and today we got a little sneak peek at the beautiful new coffee shop + bakery that now calls this space home.

And y’all… it made me so happy. ☕️
Small business will always have such a special place in my heart because I know firsthand how much courage, work, sacrifice and dreaming goes into opening those doors.

So here’s to new beginnings, new dreams, really good coffee, and continuing to support the people who take a chance on bringing something special to our little town. 🤍

Getting a front row seat to what happens behind the doors of our Ekidz ministry has changed the way I see the people who serve there. 🥹

It takes a special kind of person to keep showing up- to bring the energy, patience, preparation, prayer, and heart it takes to make a child feel seen, safe, loved, and excited to know Jesus.

They may never fully see the fruit of every seed they plant, but they keep planting anyway.
That kind of faithfulness leaves me in awe🥹

I’ve gained a whole new level of respect for the people willing to spend their lives paving the way for the next generation.

There comes a point where staying comfortable becomes more costly than becoming who God called you to be.

You can’t keep praying for growth while protecting every version of yourself that growth requires you to leave behind.

Some things aren’t being taken from you.
You’ve simply outgrown them.
Some doors aren’t closing because you failed.
They’re closing because you finally had the courage to grow.

And some seasons will require a version of you that doesn’t exist yet.
Become her.
Not louder.
Not busier.
Not more impressive.
More obedient.
More disciplined.
More willing to be stretched.
More willing to go first.
More willing to trust God when the next step costs you comfort.

You weren’t called to spend your life maintaining the version of you that felt safe.

There’s more in you.

But growth will always ask you to stop negotiating with the things keeping you small. by @itsjesskerns

I won’t get everything right as their mom.
I’ll have days I lose my patience. Days I question myself. Things I wish I could redo.

But there is one thing I will never stop fighting for and that is for my boys know Jesus for themselves.

Not just the Jesus their mom and dad know.
Not just a faith they inherited because we brought them to church.

But their own encounters. Their own surrender. Their own YES.
And yesterday, I watched my last boy go loud and proud with baptism.

All three of my babies have now publicly declared that they belong to Jesus. 😭

There are a lot of things I hope I give my children in this life, but nothing will ever matter more to me than this.

I’m so thankful for a church that has come alongside us …leaders who have poured into them, prayed over them, taught them truth, and helped us create a foundation that will go far beyond childhood.

Because raising them has never just been about raising good kids.
I’m raising men who know where to run when life gets hard.
Men who know the voice of God.
Men who know who they belong to.
Men who will one day lead families of their own.

So yeah… the enemy can’t have me.
And he can’t have my family.🙏🏼

now live like it changed you.

Let your voice carry what silence taught you.
Let your obedience cost you something.
Let your healing become someone else’s hope.
Let your story make the road shorter for the next person.

You didn’t survive it just to play it safe.
