We are excited to welcome Darnell “Snoopy” Brown (@itsjstsnoopy) as a 2024-2025 Dance Lab at BCA Resident!

Darnell “Snoopy” Brown is a well-versed freestyle movement artist/choreographer from a Jamaican ethnicity but raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Snoopy became proficient in Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Krump as well as mentored by the best and prominent iconic dancers Such as Russell Ferguson (SYTYCD Winner S8), Mr. Wiggles (Michael Jackson, Usher, Missy Elliot, etc.) and Ian Eastwood (YouTube Sensation & Founder of Young Lions) to name a few. Snoopy catered towards his street styles/teachers and followed up his training which extended into more classical training like ballet, jazz, and modern. Darnell attended Dean College where he studied business & performance arts management with a dance minor.

Darnell describes his residency project thus: “This project will focus on attachment styles and men’s mental health. Around topics such as masculine energy, safety, societal norms and pressures, anger, childhood trauma, stress management, racism, insecurities, pride, and accountability; just to name a few. I plan to continue upon my developed research and use movement to express and release as a creative form.“

We're back for Week 3 of International Moves and Food in partnership with the Esplanade Association @esplanadeinboston! This ⭐️FREE⭐️ dance series is led by local professional teaching artists and culture bearers who are sharing dance traditions that connect us & reflect us right here in Boston and across the globe. This week, we are honored to welcome Darnell 'Snoopy' Brown @itsjstsnoopy, bringing Jamaica to the front with a signature class from his Mixtape Series, "Hip Hop Meets Dancehall". Class will include 30-minutes of  grooves, movement drills, and core movement theories like bounce, rock, levels, footwork, and music structure. The second half of class will explore key moves from Dancehall while highlighting confidence and connection.
—
Darnell “Snoopy” Brown is a movement artist, choreographer, teaching artist, and creator of ORIGN, a movement practice rooted in authenticity, healing, and self-discovery. Rooted in his Jamaican heritage and shaped by Hip Hop culture, his work blends Hip Hop, Dancehall, Krump, and freestyle to explore identity, culture, and human connection. As a performer, educator, and community leader, Snoopy has taught, choreographed, and collaborated with schools, universities, studios, and arts organizations throughout New England. Through performance, education, and community engagement, he creates spaces where movement becomes a catalyst for storytelling, self-expression, and collective transformation, inspiring others to embrace their truest selves with courage and purpose.
—
💃🏽🌍 Each week, International Moves & Food brings a new teaching artist, supportive learning environment, and cultural context to guide us through a 1-hour class. Following the class, participants are invited to enjoy free food and beverages from local restaurants for a chance to connect socially! Classes meet on Mondays, 6pm - 7:30pm, July 13 - August 17.

Hey y'all, sharpening the business behind your art shouldn't feel out of reach.

That's what the BDA Capacity Building Series is for. Snoopy came in already deep in his craft and used it to sharpen his EPK and grow his brand, ORIGN. It's since positioned him for more teaching and collaboration with universities across New England.

Six weeks, small cohort, back at The Foundry this summer, Tuesdays July 7 to Aug 11. Only 8 spots, open to BDA member artists.

Register by MONDAY July 6th. Link in bio.
