The “Blessing” to our family. Your spirit gives the family excitement every. single. morning. The smile on your face everyday is what makes being a dad a pleasure. You are the sweetest little girl that is so kind, considerate and loving. You are the best big sister we could have ever asked for. Jubilee is fortunate to have sister like you to do life with. Just being around you feels like there’s a lot more people in the vicinity because you fill the room with your presence. It’s a privilege to be your father. Excited to raise you up in the faith. It was a pleasure to have @saints Tight End @itsjuwan in our facility for the week during his visit to Orange County.

Most athletes nowadays are chasing big numbers in the gym, and they end up needlessly compressing their joints in the pursuit of strength and performance. Instead, @functionalpatterns allows you to ignite muscles using principles such as mechanical leverage. Notice how even at Juwan’s strength and size, he fatigues performing a shoulder press with just a 20 lb dumbbell. He wasn’t breaking a sweat because he did tons of reps, but rather this fatigue was induced in just 3 reps by positioning his entire body in a way that forced his shoulder to contract exponentially harder. This is how we strengthen entire chains of muscles without any of the joint pains associated with intense weightlifting here at Functional Patterns.

It’s rare to come across an athlete of Juwan’s caliber who possesses the foresight to recognize that sustainable training is how you achieve longevity - for both on the field and long after you retire from competing. June ‘26 | not perfect

From someone not perfect,

I notice people have church hurt and blame the Christians for their “hurt”. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why they’re turned off but I had a thought:

Anyone ever had a bad experience with a meal and got food poisoning? But you never stopped eating food entirely. That food was the necessity for you to live. Because the problem was the experience and not food itself.

Why can’t that be the case with God? The problem hurt people think they have is with God and it’s not. You just had a bad experience of an individual or a church that represents Him.

It shows that we fall short of reflecting Him because bottom line we ALL are fallen, sinful, broken people. We go back to food that supports us, why can’t we go back to God who sustains us?

Happy Father’s Day to every father that shows up when it’s hard, leads the household in love and honors the ones in his family.

Being a father is one of my greatest honors I’ve ever had in my life. It’s my favorite responsibility in the world. I will say that being a father doesn’t come with a roadmap. It also doesn’t come with perfection.

We don’t always get it right. But what a privilege it is to wake up and do it day after day. Fathering doesn’t have off days. It’s a job that we stepped into the moment of conception. It’s an opportunity to teach, guide and even learn everyday.

The responsibility is mine to train my kids up in the right way for when they get old, they won’t depart from the Way. Fathering takes intention. Your patience with your kids, they’ll learn to feel they can be heard and that emotions matter.

With your vulnerability, they’ll see it matters to communicate and that their voice matters. Your love for them, they’ll realize that they’ll never need affirmation from others to know their worth.

Fatherhood taught me that my love doesn’t have to be earned but that it is freely given. And that there is Someone who does exactly that for us.

May ‘26 | to whom it may help

Why do bad things happen to good people and why do good things happen to bad people? Why does God allow suffering?

Real question is suffering bad?

“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!”
Philippians 3:10-11

Suffering isn’t bad. It’s an opportunity to grow intimate with Christ. Is it hard? Yes. Is it painful? Yes. Do you question everything? Yes. Are you going to think you didn’t deserve suffering? Yes. But is there a way through it? Yes. We will all go through giants but who do you think defeats them? Who may have allowed a giant in your life? We will suffer but the suffering isn’t done alone.

Not a matter of what’s “good” and what’s “bad” it’s a matter of what’s temporary and what’s everlasting, what’s provisional and what’s rooted, what’s fleeting and what’s enduring. by @itsjuwan
