So it turns out you can hurt yourself even when you aren’t riding - I managed to roll my foot dancing and tear my lisfranc ligament. I got surgery Monday and will be fully off the bike for at least a few months.

It’s crazy how many bigger crashes I’ve managed to walk away from that this would end up hurting me but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. I’m lucky to have gotten diagnosed and into the OR relatively quickly (only 2 weeks, big thanks to @jkshook encouraging me to look into it more when the initial broken bone diagnosis wasn’t lining up with my symptoms) and to have access to great healthcare through Stanford.

My season is over before it really began, although I might be able to race a bit in September, I’m not going to push my recovery and risk my long term health. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy a slower pace and maybe get a little closer to graduating haha taken in Stanford Medicine by @itskatelawrence

Took the W @transbcenduro - It’s true what they say, it really is summer camp for adults ☀️

6 days of blind racing bikes in BC with @jgbeilke was a pretty perfect way to end the summer. I’m not sure my arms will ever feel not tired again though taken in British Columbia by @itskatelawrence

22nd at World Champs on team USA 🇺🇸

Some ups and downs coming back to Europe and trying to figure out how to put less pressure on myself and enjoy the racing. The tracks were great, views amazing, and I got to catch up with lots of friends! I came without a lot of expectations for results, but I’m happy with the speed I felt in sections of the trails! I wasn’t consistent enough to put together top to bottom runs that were all at race pace, but I had some moments that I’m really proud of, and in the end I had a lot of fun.

Managed to sneak on the podium for the @downievilleclassic DH 🥉 people told me this race would be hard and they were not wrong (I think I learned for the first time how bad leg cramps can be on the XC 🥵) the whole event was such a fun weekend though, I’ll probably be back once I forget how much it hurt

@sturdydirtyenduro has been on my bucket list for a while now. I finally made it out this year and it did not disappoint! I’ve never been in a race with even half as many other women, the organizers have really done something special here 🙌

A bit of a different kind of post, but I just submitted a preprint for my the first paper of my genetics PhD! We make an argument that many genetic variants impact multiple genes at the same time and that to fully understand the role of our genetics in traits like disease susceptibility, we need to move beyond a one-variant-one-gene view.
