One year at Lincoln Center ✨

I’ve been trying to summarize what this year has meant and I keep coming back to how much I’ve learned by watching things come together.

From rehearsals and performances to campus takeovers, artist conservations, in real time problem solving and the quiet moments before the audience arrives, this year has expanded my appreciation and curiosity of the scale of live performance.

I’ve absolutely learned a lot about artistic programming, but I’ve also learned alot about myself: what I’m drawn to, what excites me creatively and the kinds of spaces and experiences I want to help continue building.

Growing curiosities include: the details that shape how we experience art, how artists are supported, audience relationships and experiences and amongst it all, how culture and community are expressed and live in an infinite array of possibilities.

One year down, here’s to continued curiosity and play! 🎭🎵❤️

Before World Cup 2026 ends, I wanted to share this part of my story that I don’t really talk about that much, mostly because the path was never straight forward.

I grew up playing soccer/football from the age of 4 years old in Canada from house league to rep and then regional/provincial level. Somehow my parents found a way to encourage me to balance music and competing in soccer where we would be on the road 2 to 3 days of the week, sometimes driving 5 hrs one way per match. I grew up in a time where there wasn’t much encouragement for women above age 25 to continue playing soccer competitively, (there also wasn’t much examples of high competitive athletes that were also professional artists). Even though I still had fire for the game and knew I could contribute, society saw little merit in encouraging “older woman players”.

During covid I chose to extend my stay in my island home of Barbados to give this dream of mine a chance. I am forever grateful that I made the choice to follow through and reach out to the National Barbados Women’s Team @ladytridents to see what was possible with upcoming qualifier rounds for Woman’s World Cup 2027.

With more encouragement and better structures for women to compete at higher levels in the sport, I feel inspired that what might look crazy to others on the outside shouldn’t matter if it means something to you, at any stage/age in life.

Stories like that of Cabo Verde goalkeeper, Vozinha help us remember that this beautiful game is meant to be played by all, no matter where you start from. I still go back and forth with figuring out how this beautiful game stays relevant in my life and who knows, I might be crazy enough to give it all that I can for the upcoming 2031 Women’s World Cup qualifying rounds.

Our stories aren’t linear and they should have to be. To the beautiful game that has brought me closer to my family, my culture and finding love, thank you! ⚽️

LIVE FROM BARBADOS: I have been selected to represent Barbados for the upcoming @carifestaxv as a singer in the theatre production ‘Mansa Musa’. This co-production which is produced by @nationaltheatregh is a true fusion of Ghanaian and Barbadian performers and musicians, helping celebrate the cultural vibrancy between West Africa and the Caribbean.

The music in this production is powerful and something special so mark your calendars/make the trip for Aug 22-31!

Side note: it’s been a minute since I’ve been on stage, so this producer/director is excited to be back on this side of things 🙏🏾

To the woman that walk to the beat of their own drum
That listen to their inner heart beat
And who encourage others to do the same, simply by having taken the first step
Thank You

Receiving this award on behalf of our Oustanding Ensemble in the Opera Division for ‘Aportia Chryptych’ means Portia White’s legacy continues to reach people that never heard her story, while recognizing the present work of @neembee , @stateofsate and @adriennedanrichsoprano as the principal cast and the hope that the future supports just legacies to shine in the forefront 🖤

The 45th Dora Awards…This was the best pre Canada Day party, period!

Thank you @tapa_to for organizing such a joyous gathering to celebrate the Toronto arts community. I know I say this a lot, but contemporary/new works matter and seeing glimpses of all the stories and artists spotlighted during the ceremony reenergized my inner creative flame.

I will always support this community that has always accepted my curiosities from young and truly want to say keep doing what you do!!! This artist life is not always clear or easy, but is the journey worth it… heck ya! Congrats to all the nominees, winners, organizers and supporters! ✨
