The relationship between a Black woman and her hair is already so complex, and it sucks that getting our hair done has become so difficult.
People keep describing getting your hair done as a “luxury,” and l have to argue that it doesn’t have to be all that. It’s hair, yall. We need our hair done.

Thankfully, by the grace of GOD alone, I have a stylist I love and trust.

I love Drake as much as the next person. But I need us to think about what it means that one of our biggest artists only ever speaks from isolation, distrust, and a me-versus-everybody place while we live in a society that’s starving for community.
It’s not just Drake. It’s a pattern. And you may not be intentionally emulating these behaviors, but when they’re what you think about all the time? It’s ends up being what you do.
Start reading your lyrics. Ask yourself: does this persona actually benefit me?
