I have decided to follow the masses and start a newsletter, giving my old blog Legless In Dublin a new lease of life.

As a disabled woman, I find that a lot of non-disabled people ask me for advice around access and how to treat disabled people. I also generally have to contribute a lot of my own experiences to other people's work to highlight the challenges disabled people face.

This is all done for free, but nonetheless takes up my time and takes an emotional toll.

I am using leglessindublin.substack.com as a chance to share my sage, sage wisdom in the shape of access reviews and personal essays that centre around disability and ableism. The subscription format will allow me to actually put a price on what it is that I have to say, but the only people who will have to pay the fee are non-disabled people. I am also using this as an opportunity to say no to all non-paid work that centres around disability. I just cannot afford - in every sense of the word - to do it anymore.

Free subscriptions for life are available to all disabled people on request.

I am so so thrilled to be joining the lineup for Soundings at @othervoiceslive Derry this September 26. I'll be sitting down with the incredible @katenash to talk about her music, her activism, and generally just trying to make sense of this mad old world.

I've always loved Kate. I reviewed a gig of hers in Whelan's 14 years ago and just two years ago, I was lucky enough to gush over her album 9 Sad Symphonies on @rte_arena, so this really is a pinch me moment.

Soundings is the daytime discussion event running in tandem with the evening performances, and it's a hearty state of affairs.

If you are heading to @epfestival, please swing by the @smirnoff stage to see real access and real talent in action. Not only will I be playing there tomorrow at 4pm, playing everything from Adéla to Charli XCX with some throwbacks, the incredible @electricgingerr and @isala50, and a host of other ISL performers, will be signing the tunes. They are absolute STARS and I am so happy to be sharing a stage with them. by @itsloubru

Join us on 26 August for an intimate screening and feedback session for Louise Bruton’s new film work, LANES. The two sessions are free to attend with booking required and are limited capacity to encourage discussion. Book now via the #LinkInOurBio

LANES is a new film by Louise Bruton about the communities found in popular swimming spots. Capturing Bruton’s disabled body with the backdrop of swimming regulars, LANES will capture how the water is for everyone, we just have to get in.

Before she edits the film, Bruton invites people who have complicated relationships with their bodies in bodies of water to watch raw footage of the film at intimate screenings. The feedback shared will shape the narrative of the film.
