Come pack whistles with GSUS Illinois! THIS SATURDAY @paradisegarden60647 📍 Paradise Garden Logan Square, Chicago. 🗓️ Saturday, May 16th (2 weeks after May Day Fest) ⏰ 5:00pm - 7:30pm Central Standard Time 🧊 ICE is still in our backyards and the need for community protection is a necessity as we find a way forward under the current administration and beyond. 📰 “the piercing blow of a whistle has become a Chicago-wide means of signaling that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are present. It warns undocumented people to flee and invites U.S. citizens to come to the scene to record arrests, give detainees legal information and discourage agents from Ingering.“ - Reuters piece titled: How plastic whistles are becoming an anti-ICE resistance tool in Chicago, by Heather Schlitz. Pack whistles with us to call in the season for change! Time to SPRING into COMMUNITY ACTION! Looking to get involved with GSUS Illinois? Check out the links in our bio to learn more ✊ All power to the people! by @itsmargi20

Join GSUS Illinois for a virtual General Strike Teach-In TONIGHT from 6:00pm until 7:30pm! Register for the Teach-In at www.tinyurl.com/teachingsusil before the event to receive an invite link* We’ll go over the basics of General Strikes, cover some of the most notable Strikes throughout America’s history, and discuss how we can use that knowledge as a foundation to build towards a national General Strike today! *To make this easy and ensure we can communicate the teach-in info to you on the day, we’ve set up a CryptPad form for you to fill out. At minimum, we need an email address to send the video conference link to. This doesn’t have to be your primary email address if you’d rather use a throwaway. We just need to be able to get ahold of you. You can also provide your name, how you heard about this teach-in, let us know if you’d like to stay in touch after the event and receive additional information, and you can let us know if you have any questions prior to the event. This is a collaborative, community focused effort, so the more engaged you are, the more we all get out of this! by @itsmargi20
