During the Lisbon portion of the trip, I was struck with a cold that only got worse as the days went on.

I ate soup, I stayed in and slept, but you only live once and I tried to stay positive as we took our party boat trip. We saw all the sights and listened to a playlist that was pulled from 2008.

The next day we went to Sintra, we got pastries and I got hot tea, and sadly didn’t go into any of the castles but we took a fun Tuk Tuk tour which reminded me of @capital_tuktuk and that made me happy.

After a nap it was time for dinner at @atirateaorio_ Since we were on the coast most of the trip I tried to have a lot of seafood, and they had a grilled octopus that was phenomenal. Obviously we got a side of fries and I drank a perfectly bubbly ginger ale.

That closes out the trip! Hopefully more travel is in my future if this cold ever goes away. 🤧 by @itsmarleee

This is the most exciting thing we’re looking forward to on the trip! This kayak did not disappoint. After a lot of the travel troubles we encountered, we got really lucky on this tour and got to go into three different caves which normally the tides are too high to go into and we got to see a couple dolphins as well! Shout out to Heather who booked the tour, and shout out to our tour guide Bruno, who made us feel really comfortable, especially after he immediately fell off his paddle board into the water. 😂 taken in Benagil Caves by @itsmarleee

Another couple of days in the algarve…

Accompanied by our new friends, we hit up a beach club, drank a bottle of wine each, and ate sushi. We shared tidbits about our lives, giggled and sang ABBA at the end of the night.

Heather and I wanted a day to do nothing, so we spent it at Praia dos Estudantes. A hidden beach with stunning archways, caves, and water that’s the perfect temperature.

Then our last night of dinner we got a meat board (it was supposed to have an octopus on it and I am still a little disappointed it didn’t) but the food and sangria was fantastic.

We took a few photos in the flower filled alley and shopped a bit. We stayed at my favorite hotel of the trip which we booked solely based off the included breakfast, it was soooo good.

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal 🌊🍺🐙🃏

We started this leg with another great dinner and an early morning kayak tour of the Benagil caves (video coming soon!).

After the tour we got some drinks at a popular restaurant and walked along the Carvoeiro Boardwalk. We admired the beautiful cliffs and kept thinking how everything reminds us of California.

After some games and strolls, we decided tonight was the night we were going to go out.

The Tavern Bar welcomed us and a bunch of England fans to watch the Norway v England game. We got a round and played darts, I got a bullseye!

It got a little too wild in there so we found an outdoor bar to watch the rest of the game where we made friends and watched with Norway fans. Our night ended with plans for the next day, a pizza, and beer for the walk home.

This trip is bringing my Pinterest board to life. We are blessed and highly favored 🙌 by @itsmarleee

We had one night in Sevilla and of course we had travel trouble on our way here. Our bus to Madrid was late so we missed our train. No problem, get on another train. Our ride was supposed to be 2.5 hours and a fire somewhere near the tracks caused us to stop for over an hour. Nonetheless, we prevail.

I reached out to sweet @ashleyymcknightt for recommendations and we followed them to a delicious dinner and coffee shop the next day.

Sevilla felt like our first realllll day we got to explore. We checked out the Alcazar, the cathedral, got to climb the tower like Quasimodo, and then hit a rooftop for fuel.

All these busses and trains can make we feel a little delirious and everything becomes funny.
Thankfully we have been able to laugh and find the bright side of all these pauses. Next stop: Portugal! taken in Seville, Spain by @itsmarleee

Elina and Jake hosted the most beautiful wedding. The vows were so sincere and scenery was incredible. Lots of Top Chef and mayo references were made.

Heather and I had the pleasure of sitting with Elina’s side of the family from Kazakstan. I love being folded into her Russian family so much even though I never understand anything they say.

Cocktail hour had an oyster man, multiple tapas, and endless amounts of white wine. We had a truly extravagant dinner, followed by late night bites from the motherland and a bocadillo tray.

If you can believe it we stayed up dancing, drinking, and talking until 3AM.

The last series of photos is so funny. Elina looking beautiful, her dad scarfing an oyster, and me looking like I need a cigarette trying to steal Sophia’s lip gloss for the bride.

We had a 30-hour travel day from Sacramento to Madrid, but we made it!

We arrived to Madrid at 7:30AM, not much was open so we admired the sunrise and walked a mostly empty Plaza Mayor. Thankfully we avoided a trendy coffee shop for one with locals walking in ordering coffee and bites before work and I got my first Jamón ibérico of the trip.

After meeting up with the bride, groom, friends and fam, we loaded 50+ people onto a bus to Toledo! Where we promptly got in the pool and ordered croquettes.
