My parents immigrated to New York in their twenties. As immigrants from Haiti, my parents had desires of giving their children the quality of education their circumstances denied them of. At a young age, it was drilled into me that I had two career options : doctor or lawyer. Lucky for them, I actually wanted to be a doctor. I took all the necessary steps academically to secure my seat in Meharry Medical College’s School of Dentistry Class of 2022.

As my time at Meharry comes to a close, I knew that my pursuit to be a competent and well versed healthcare provider was not over. I am elated to say that in July I will be a resident in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY. I am humbled and excited to go back to New York to continue the story that my parents began. God is SO SO good 🙌🏾🦷👩🏾‍⚕️ #blackdentistsmatter #meharrymade taken in Meharry Medical College by @itsmayjean
