FAU Parents Weekend ā¤ļøšŸ¦‰

So great to finally hug our girl after a long 6 weeks.

It was low-key — and absolutely perfect.

We watched her play in her first college lacrosse game (GO OWLS šŸ‘ŒšŸ½šŸ„), tailgated with friends, and then ended up curled up on the couch watching the rest of the game because… Florida monsoon. IYKYK. šŸ˜‚

We shared dinner by candlelight, snagged a dirty mirror selfie in the hotel, and laughed ALL weekend. Nonstop.

It was perfect, and I really wish it didn’t have to end.

We miss her like crazy and, selfishly, we’d love nothing more than to bring her right back home with us. But we know she’s exactly where she’s supposed to be — finding her way, navigating the independence of college, making her own life, and growing into a pretty kickass adult.

And getting a front-row seat to watch that happen is pretty special. ā¤ļø

See you in 2 weeks for your next game, kiddo.

We’ll make that 3-hour drive every single time we get the chance to watch you play. šŸ„šŸ¦‰

So proud of you, Bean.
And already counting down until the next hug. ā¤ļø by @itsmejilg

19 years. ā¤ļø

So many thoughts come to mind when I look through these pictures of Bernie and me over the years.

I think one of the things that first drew me to him was his incredible loyalty and unwavering support. He came into my life during one of the hardest times I had ever been through, and from the very beginning, he showed up for me. And for 19 years, through every up and down, he has continued to show up.

He is the most amazing girl dad. His smile is absolutely contagious and can still melt me from across the room. He is quiet and observant in times of stress—which is exactly the balance I need when life gets scary or hard. When I feel like everything around me is spinning, I know I can lean on him to stand tall, be brave, and make our family feel safe.

I truly don’t know where my life would be without this incredible man by my side.

Nineteen years flew by in the blink of an eye. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that marriage is hard. It takes work. It takes choosing each other over and over again, even when it isn’t easy.

There have been really, really hard times. Days when I honestly wondered if we were going to make it. And looking back now, I am so grateful that we kept fighting for each other. ā¤ļø

Of all the things I could wish for our daughters, one of the biggest is that someday they look at their dad and choose a partner who loves them the way their daddy has loved us—loyal, steady, protective, supportive, and always there when it matters most.

We are so incredibly lucky to have this man in our lives.

Happy 19th anniversary, babe. ā¤ļø
I’d choose you again.

Here’s to us—and to all the years still ahead. šŸ„‚ by @itsmejilg

Some people decorate for Halloween.

I apparently enter into a full-blown Halloween production. šŸ˜‚šŸŽƒšŸ’€

One skeleton becomes seven.
One little area turns into the entire front of the house.
And somehow I’m STILL walking around thinking, ā€œYou know what this needsā€¦ā€ šŸ‘€šŸ˜‚

My excitement for this time of year is completely unreasonable…and I have absolutely no intention of fixing it.

These last few months of the year are basically when I THRIVE. šŸ˜‚

Halloween is the opening act. šŸŽƒšŸ’€
Then comes Thanksgiving…
and then Christmas shows up like a FULL-BLOWN HOLIDAY EXPLOSION. šŸŽ„āœØšŸ˜‚

October through December = my Super Bowl.

And honestly, everyone in this house just needs to accept it. šŸ˜‚šŸ–¤ by @itsmejilg

It never gets easier.

When you came into our lives, we were so excited for the new adventures ahead with this little Bean and her big sister. And then came the news that would flip our world upside down—words you can’t possibly process while staring at your beautiful baby girl.

We fought. Hard. We cried even harder.

But through all of the scary and all of the unknowns, you fought too.

Without even knowing it, you led us through one of the hardest seasons of our lives as parents. And somehow, through all of it, we laughed. A lot. Your spirit never dimmed. You taught us how to find joy in the darkness, and those lessons stay with a parent forever.

And now here we are.

College drop-off.

Eighteen years of medications, treatments, appointments and worry—while doing everything we could to give you a ā€œnormalā€ life.

My heart is really sad knowing I don’t get to wake up with you here every morning. We’re all a little lost back home without you. And letting go of our little fighter and trusting her to face the world without her helicopter parents watching every move? This part is hard.

I keep myself busy because when I’m still too long, I start thinking. And worrying. Are you okay? Do you have everything you need?

But then I remind myself to trust.

I trust that God has you.
I trust that we’ve done our job.
I trust that we’ve taught you how to be safe, stand up for yourself, protect yourself, make good choices and listen to that little voice inside you when something doesn’t feel right.

I can’t control the world around you. But I trust that we’ve shown you enough to trust yourself.

And maybe that’s what this season is supposed to teach us, too.

This chapter is different, Bean. This one isn’t already written for you. There is no storyline you have to follow. You get to create it.

So make it a good one.

I’m so excited to watch you write it—and I’ll be right here, probably worrying way too much, cheering louder than anyone and waiting to hear what happens next.

Go write your story, Bean. šŸ¤šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ā¤ļøšŸ’™ taken in Florida Atlantic University by @itsmejilg

Athlete Games. šŸ’™šŸ”„

This day was about SO much more than three workouts.

Standing on that floor at 49 years old—strong, capable and competing—I couldn’t help but think about everything it took to get there.

The injuries. Surgeries. Setbacks. Starting over. Rebuilding. Learning to trust my body again.

Looking back now, I can see that every hard season was building this version of me. They taught me how to fight, adapt, get back up and keep going. Most importantly, they taught me to trust God through all of it.

None of it was wasted. The struggle wasn’t for nothing.

God never promised me an easy road, but He continued to give me the strength to walk it. Standing on that floor was a pretty incredible reminder of just how far He has carried me. šŸ™šŸ¼

And my TEAM—I am SO freaking proud of you guys. šŸ’™ You worked your asses off, got uncomfortable, challenged yourselves and SHOWED UP. Watching you fight through those workouts was one of the best parts of the entire day. @marisolson @sydneylouwho0 @jen.paulus @nikkibroom13

My best friend in the world, @kimking0911 —there is nobody else I would have wanted counting my reps. You kept me locked in when it was time to grind, reminded me I had more in me and wouldn’t let me quit on myself. Having you right there meant everything. 🄹

And our @burnbootcampsarasotafl community… THE BEST CHEERING SECTION!! Hearing you screaming for us when things got hard was everything. This is what our community is all about. šŸ’™

Huge shoutout to @burnbootcampcapecoralfl and FP @syd_togg for hosting an AMAZING event—and doing it in that HEAT. šŸ„µšŸ˜‚

I walked away proud of my performance, a LIFETIME PR ON DUBSšŸ™Œ but even more grateful for the journey.

The injuries. The setbacks. The healing. The lessons. The comebacks.

They all helped build me.

The journey to that floor was the victory and I feel it stronger than ever before - that we’re on to something good🌟✨ by @itsmejilg

Happy 22nd Birthday, Riley. šŸ¤

Twenty-two years ago, God entrusted me with one of life’s greatest blessings—you. Watching you grow into the woman you are today has been one of my greatest joys.

You have a heart that reflects Jesus so beautifully. Your kindness, your ability to truly listen, your compassion, your contagious laugh, and your quirky sense of humor are gifts to everyone who knows you.

The road hasn’t always been easy. You’ve walked through heartbreak, disappointment, and uncertainty, but your light never went out. You fought. You prayed. You stayed faithful. You graduated magna cum laude through hard work and perseverance, and although the path to your dream has taken longer than expected, I know God is preparing something greater than you can see. His timing is always perfect.

Watching you explore the world has been such a joy. Every adventure has made you stronger, wiser, and more confident in the woman God created you to be.

I am so proud of you, Riley. Never stop trusting God’s plan, even when you can’t see the whole picture. He has incredible things in store for your life.

Happy Birthday, sweet girl. Keep shining your light. I love you more than words can ever say. ā¤ļø by @itsmejilg

Summit 2026 gave me more than ideas.

It gave me a renewed vision.

This year tested me in every way imaginable. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: grit wins. Leaders don’t wait for perfect conditions—they show up anyway.

I came home with one goal…
To transform Burn Boot Camp Sarasota into a gym that changes lives so powerfully it’s impossible to ignore.

Not for a trophy. Not for a stage.

But because every person who walks through our doors deserves to become the strongest, healthiest, most confident version of themselves.

That means we raise the standard.
We refocus.
We become 100% bought in.
We trust the process.
We challenge each other.
We execute with consistency.
And we never settle.

To our members: We’ll meet you where you are, but we won’t leave you there.

To our team: We will lead with excellence, coach with purpose, and serve with everything we’ve got.

Because transformation doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through commitment, consistency, and a community that refuses to quit.

Devan Kilne said it best, ā€œLeaders don’t walk… they run.ā€
So lace ā€˜em up, y’all…..
We’re about to get after it. šŸ”„šŸ’™ taken in St. Louis Union Station Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton by @itsmejilg

49 today. šŸ’™

This birthday was exactly what I needed—a few days away with my girls and B, filled with laughter, memories, and time together. It truly was the best gift I could have asked for.

As I reflect on another year, my heart is full. Thank you to everyone who took the time to call, text, message, or celebrate with me. Whether you’re near or far, your love, encouragement, and friendship mean more than you know.

I’m incredibly grateful for every person who is part of our journey. Here’s to another year of making memories, embracing every challenge, and never taking the people I love for granted. ā¤ļø by @itsmejilg

@burnbootcamphainesportnj connected us but we chose to stay together after we moved apart.
We have unintentionally made a girls trip to Disney a yearly event. We have decided the tradition will continue. My heart is always full when I am with these two, never a dull moment, lots of laughs, no agenda just being together eating lots of food. by @itsmejilg

These women. šŸ’™

This morning, before the sun had risen, while the babes were still tucked in tight, we completed our Strength & Conditioning Assessment -
 šŸ’™TOGETHERšŸ’™

I couldn’t be more proud of this team.

They showed up early, pushed through discomfort, held themselves to a high standard, and gave their best effort. Not because they had to—but because they care deeply about their craft and the members they serve every day.

Being a trainer is more than leading workouts. It’s leading by example. It’s being willing to do the hard things, embrace growth, and continually challenge yourself to be better.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead, coach, and grow alongside this group of strong, hardworking women. Their passion, commitment, and willingness to rise to the occasion make our community stronger every single day.

The women of Burn Sarasota continue to raise the standard, and today was another reminder of just how special this team is.

Proud is an understatement. šŸ’™šŸ”„ taken in Burn Boot Camp - Sarasota, FL by @itsmejilg

This Mother’s Day feels a little different… and a whole lot bigger. šŸ¤

Watching my girl graduate college this weekend while celebrating being her mom is something I can’t even fully put into words. What an honor it has been to walk beside you through every chapter that brought you here, Riley.

I am endlessly proud of the woman you’ve become — not just because of the degree you earned, but because of the grace, resilience, strength, and heart you carried through every challenge along the way. People see the accomplishment, but I’ve had the privilege of seeing the hard work behind it… the late nights, sacrifices, disappointments, growth, perseverance, and moments where you kept going even when things felt hard.

You have handled this season of life with such quiet strength and humility, and that makes this moment even more meaningful.

Your future is so bright, Riley. The world is getting someone incredibly special — compassionate, intelligent, driven, and deeply grounded in who she is.

Being your mom will forever be one of the greatest gifts of my life.

Happy Graduation, sweet girl. And somehow… Happy Mother’s Day to me too. šŸ¦‹šŸŽ“āœØ by @itsmejilg

18 years ago, you came into this world and somehow managed to change mine forever.

My sweet Bean.… where do I even begin?

You’ve been my greatest adventure, my biggest lesson, the person who taught me what unconditional love actually feels like. Watching you grow from the little girl who had an imagination as wild and creative as they come, into this beautiful, strong, hilarious, compassionate young woman has been the privilege of my life.

And somehow… overnight… you’re 18.

I still see the little girl with messy hair, endless questions, and a personality so big it could fill every room you walked into. The one who made me laugh when I wanted to cry, who tested my patience and melted my heart all in the same breath.

You are sunshine and chaos. Softness and strength. Independent and deeply loving. You’ve carried yourself through hard moments with more grace than most adults ever learn. And even when life hasn’t been easy, you’ve continued to grow into someone I admire so deeply.

I hope you know this:
There has never been a single version of you that I haven’t loved completely.

Not the stubborn little girl.
Not the emotional teenager.
Not the messy moments.
Not the growing pains.
All of it. Every phase. Every version. Every piece of you.

You will always be my baby, even while becoming your own person.

As much as this milestone breaks my mama heart a little, it also fills me with overwhelming pride because the world now gets to experience the incredible human I’ve had the honor of loving for the last 18 years.

Thank you for making me your mom.
Thank you for the laughter, the memories, the chaos, the hugs, the late-night talks, and even the eye rolls.

I would choose you in every lifetime.

Happy 18th Birthday to my sweet Bean.
Go make the world yours. šŸ¦‹ by @itsmejilg
