Today, my mama would’ve been 66. 💔🕊️

And I really don’t know how almost a year can have passed when there are still days I feel like I’m waiting for her to call.

I’ve learned that grief doesn’t stop life. That’s probably one of the hardest parts. The world keeps turning. Bills still come. Birthdays still come. Plans still get made. People keep laughing, celebrating, growing, changing… and you’re expected to keep going too.

But sometimes I just want everything to stop for a minute.

Because SO much has happened since you left, Mama. And I hate that you weren’t here for it.

I hate that I can’t call you and tell you what’s new. I hate that you don’t get to watch me continue to figure this thing called life out. I hate that there are moments with my family that you should be sitting right in the middle of. I hate that there are things happening that you would have had something to say about—because Lord knows you ALWAYS had something to say. 😂❤️

You were my OG. Full of personality, full of love, and never afraid to let people know exactly how you felt. 😂 You loved your kids fiercely. You loved people. And somehow, you could walk into a room and change the whole energy without even trying.

That light is what I miss.

I miss YOU.

And I think that’s what makes today so hard. I’m not just missing the person you were… I’m missing all the moments we were supposed to have.

66 years should’ve been another birthday surrounded by people who love you. There should’ve been cake, laughs, pictures, your attitude 😂 and probably somebody getting on your nerves.

Instead, I’m sitting here wishing heaven would give me just one more conversation.

One more hug.
One more laugh.
One more “Mama, listen…”
One more birthday with you.

Life has changed so much since you left, and as much as I’m trying to keep moving forward, a part of me will always wish you could’ve come along with me.

Happy 66th Birthday to my beautiful mama. 🤍

I hope heaven is treating you good. I hope you know how deeply you are missed. And I hope you can see me down here trying my best.

🎈💗 CELEBRATING MOM IN HEAVEN 💗🎈

This weekend, we’re coming together to celebrate our beautiful mom on her birthday. 🥹❤️

Although we wish we could celebrate her here with us, we know her love, her spirit, and her memories will always be around us. So we’re sending a little love up to Heaven with a balloon release in her honor. 🎈☁️

I would love for everyone who knew and loved my mom to come out, share a memory, say a prayer, shed a tear, laugh with us, and help us celebrate the beautiful life she lived. ❤️

Let me tell you about grief… it hits you like a whirlwind and your suddenly thankful for every friendship, connection , person that helped me move through grief .. by being present in moments where it almost seems impossible !
