Museo di Tambú Shon Cola, a real must do in Curaçao! 🇨🇼🥁❤️

This is the first home I bought when I was 30, in the Netherlands.

You may be wondering: How did I do it?

I worked hard. I educated myself. I learned to be strategic with my money. Instead of spending everything I earned, I focused on building assets, investing, and thinking long-term.

I never had to choose between being humble and being ambitious. I chose to be both.

At 20, I moved to the Netherlands and built a life for myself. At 30, I bought my first home, and at 31, I started investing in Curaçao. Since then, I have purchased three vacation homes and land as investments.

I didn’t reject where I came from—I built upon it.

My family gave me the foundation. My journey taught me how to build on it.

Their way of life was not wrong, and my way is not necessarily better. We simply made different choices based on the opportunities, knowledge, and circumstances we had.

I carry the humility and gratitude they taught me while embracing the ambition and financial strategy I developed for myself.

My story proves that your starting point does not define your destination. Your background can shape you without limiting you.

Stay humble. Stay grateful. Dream bigger. Work hard. Invest wisely.

If I can do it, so can you. taken in Netherlands by @itsmetahnee

This is where my journey began.

Back then, there were no bricks in front of our house just dirt. The house was made of wood, and my bedroom was unbearably hot. These were my humble beginnings.

I’m not ashamed of where I came from. On the contrary, I’m proud of it. Those early experiences taught me resilience, determination, gratitude, and the value of hard work.

Today, I am a self made millionaire. What started in a modest wooden house has grown into a life I once only dreamed of: a home worth €450,000, three vacation homes in gated communities in Curaçao, and land that I purchased as an investment.

My role models come from both sides of my family.

On my mother’s side, my great grandmother bought five houses. On my father’s side, my great-grandmother also owned homes, and my grandmother owned a house and a bar. Property ownership and hard work were already part of my family history.

My grandmother inherited her mother’s house, so she didn’t have the same urgency to acquire property herself. She was raised with a beautiful philosophy: be humble, be grateful, and be happy with what you have. Those values were passed down to my mother and to me.

My grandmother and my mother were incredibly intelligent. They spoke five languages, and my mother attended MULO. Yet no one ever encouraged them to fully recognize their intelligence, their potential, or the opportunities that could come from thinking entrepreneurially.

On our island, people were often taught to be humble, not to stand out, and to be grateful for what they had. And there is nothing wrong with that. I am grateful that I was raised with those values.

I stayed humble. I stayed grateful. I learned to appreciate what I had.

But I also realized that being grateful for what you have does not mean you cannot work toward more.

I wanted the best things in life not simply because I wanted more material possessions, but because I wanted to create financial freedom, security, and a better future for myself and my family. taken in Willemstad, Curaçao by @itsmetahnee
