I never saw myself as a “romantic”, because I thought being romantic meant grandeur and excess, overly optimistic and idealistic to the point of naïveté, qualities I can’t help to roll my eyes at 🙄

But over the last few years, this idea of “romanticizing your life” has really changed my perspective - turns out there are endless little joys and moments to find romance in (and they don’t need to break the wallet).

Romantic moments of my life have often involved
- being near a body of water, and hearing either a gentle whoosh-whoosh or a roaring WHOOSH-WHOOSH of the waves
- making an effort to notice how the sun rises and sets every day, and how beautifully it paints the sky and everything around me
- meaningful interactions with strangers
- being enveloped by mountains and trees, and realizing how small and insignificant we are (in the best way)
- the company of rare friendships that nourish the child-like spirit and curiosity in me 😌
- and books with captivating and nuanced stories about all the universal feelings that make us so human
