When I was in 7th grade i remember a trip my family and I took out to Powder Mountain, Utah. It DUMPED snow, more than I remember ever seeing at that point in my life. Growing up in Wisconsin we don’t get powder days, I spent a lot of my childhood training and in gates, I was a groomer gal through and through with my skinny race skis.

I hated the powder during that trip. I remember crying all morning cause I didn’t know how to ski in it. I sat in the lodge for the rest of the morning while my Mom, Dad and brother went out to ski. They came in for lunch with the biggest grins on their face and I was so jealous. They were having fun in the powder while I sat in the lodge throwing a pity party.

I’ll never forgot that moment. Moving out west after high school I really had to break away from some of my racer habits. The first time I skied off Lone Peak at Big Sky I was on my 165cm skinny slalom skis…. lol. I found more of my love for skiing off big faces, my love for steep terrain, a new love for powder and still the same amount of love for the wide open groomers I can rip down.

There’s really no feeling like skiing through deep fluffy snow, but to me, there’s really nothing else that compares to a perfectly groomed slope to make synchronized turns and let your edges lay over from side to side feeling like you’re flying and floating down the mountain.

I was raised a groomer, racer girl, and I’m proud to always be that.

Buy the pass regardless of what the forecasters say. Buy the new skis you want. Buy that coat you’ve been eyeing. Get that touring setup you’ve been wanting.

Have fun no matter the conditions this winter. I don’t know why everyone is scared of the “Super El Niño” they say is coming.

Breaking up your timeline for some un cute, un filtered real life moments and struggles.

Crushing it in the gym, bit still have a torn meniscus, extreme cartilage loss and bone bruising in my left knee. Surgery next month. I feel healthy but also got hella sick and spent the night in the ER, alone. Life changes that put me back in my camper, but then one of my jacks broke. Storage unit is full, living with a lot of unknowns. Bought my dream dresser but don’t have a place for it yet.

Everything is always going to be okay, trust yourself, trust your decisions, know where you’re going from where you’ve been. All the cliche sayings.

Whatever is going on in your life it’s okay. Everything is temporary. Don’t let anyone dim your shine and keep that smile, I promise it looks good on you. ✨ 💖 by @itsmufassaa
