Mary Jane passed away yesterday just days before she turned 16. She did such a good job being in my passenger seat all this time, I needed to share.

My girl. I wish you understood how much you impacted my life. I found you the summer I moved out and turned 18. So before I ever had a sense of self, I had you. You didn’t know it but my god did you give me purpose. You saved my life when I thought depression was gonna keep me trapped under the surface. You got me out of the house. You kept me laughing. You gave me affection when I isolated. For my entire adult life you’ve been the only constant. My little shadow, my oxytocin. The enthusiastic co signer on every major life decision thus far, even the tough ones. You watered the most loving, nurturing parts of me and helped me grow into myself. There’s no way to articulate how grateful I am to have had your whole heart for 16 years. I’m so broken to have to learn how to do my life without you now. I’m not sure I ever deserved you but I’m so fucking lucky I got to be your mom. I love you forever Mary Jane 💌 by @itsnadiagray
