This little drawing experiment I have taken on over the last couple of months has been soooo surprising. I really didn’t know what I was capable of. I always just assumed I couldn’t. My entire life!

It’s been a bitter sweet lesson. I’m sad I didn’t try earlier in my life but also I’m glad I started at the time I did. Another little sign that your creative life can keep expanding on and on and on.

I’ve been rewriting my creative life in my midlife because I’ve been using creativity as both a preventive and curative. For malaise, for stagnation, for isolation, for anxiety. And to keep growing as multifaceted creative.

I see you, fellow mum, in your loungewear and messy bun. Getting the kids in the car, piece of toast in one hand, backpack in the other. It’s probably not even your piece of toast. Maybe your son couldn’t be persuaded to finish it before rushing out the door. So it’s your toast now. And I see your salute and return it. Good luck today.

FILLING MY SKETCHBOOK as I learn how to draw. One drawing per week. 2 months down.

How it’s going so far!

More than anything, I’m really enjoying it. It’s a nice quiet and slow activity which has been good in my very hectic existence. I couldn’t do one last week and I missed it so much!

Would love to be able to start exploring my own style soon, and maybe adding some colour. We shall see.

📚Book 26 of 2026! I’ve reached my reading goal for the year (and already surpassed it) and what a way to hit the target than with this wild wild ride.

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman.

I’m not a gamer but I so very much enjoyed this kooky adventure. And highly recommend the audiobook as Jeff Hays is brilliant as narrator.

A dark comedy Lit RPG hunger games esque ride, I’m already onto the second book. by @itsnaliving

A “LOVE ON” POST for my family and friends and the theatre community. I don’t care if it’s cringe or sappy or long haha. The gratitude I feel for those picking up what I am dropping is endless.

I am so grateful and in love with the work I do…but it does come with huge sacrifice sometimes. Especially for my kiddos.

We all feel the pull between our work and home lives. Sometimes we don’t make the right decisions. Sometimes the right decisions feel shitty. Sometimes you can’t win. But every time I know I have people who have my back and so thank you.

Well the last day of September brought me a Mrs Pearce debut. Here’s a series on how that felt (insane). Also, now very seriously considering always hanging my keys from my fit.
