Some laughs hit different.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing people who dye their hair blue and purple. I aspire to be like them one day, I just haven't built up that level of self belief yet.

I'm over here happy dancing (and for once NOT poker-faced!) and also happy crying at all the incredible feedback about Invisible to the Naked AI at @tahiotepoti.

Dunedinites - I didn't know if you would be able to match the abundant enthusiasm of the Christchurch audience but you did indeed COME TO THE PARTY!

This is just a tiny selection of comments and messages! Every single one that I've received has meant the world to me. It's pretty terrifying, creating something from nothing and having no way of knowing if it will mean something to anyone else.

Until it gets performed the first few times, I am totally in the dark.

So I'm delighted to know that this show has hit the mark for so many people, and it does have legs. Legs that will Hammerdance into 2027, when I plan to tour it far and wide!

And hey, if you're in Ōtepoti, today is the last day of the festival. Get along to something on this gorgeous day, and I might see you there 🤩

The glitter crash is real today, folks! After pouring my heart and soul into this show for more than six months, I'm so sad it's over (for now!)

I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who helped me create Invisible to the Naked AI, and who came along, and helped make it all possible.

I'm going to be watching that video of the dance over and over!! You all rock, including the people who felt able to do whatever they needed to (which for some people was not dancing, and that's all good).

I'm also incredibly grateful for all the mahi required to make a festival like this happen. I'm sure Hannah Molloy (Dunedin Arts Festival Producer Extraordinaire) will miss my incessant email queries terribly!

I'll be back with more soon, but in the meantime KEEP SHINING, you fabulous people! by @itsnicolabrown

Beautiful, thoughtful review from Jackson Rosie (Theatreview):

https://www.theatreview.org.nz/production/invisible-to-the-naked-ai/#dance-like-no-one-is-watching

Jackson articulates so clearly that Invisible to the Naked AI isn't just a bunch of funny, silly stories (although they definitely play a big part) or slides that provoke "rapturous laughter."

It's also about chronic pain, and how many of us live with it, and most of the time it's invisible to the naked 👁.

Some things can be both painfully infuriating and ridiculously funny.

Thank you so much for your mahi, Jackson! by @itsnicolabrown

Cat messed up slides during rehearsal at home ✅️
Tech rehearsal far less stressful due to lack of cat ✅️
Mic looks like it's attached to my nose ✅️

Did I think through the consequences of including 'AI' in the title of my show?

No, I did not.

Has it been a problem? Yes, sort of. (If you want to find out how, come along to hear that.)

Did I use AI to help create the show?

No, I did not. If I want something designed badly, I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself. (If you want to see how badly, come along to witness that, e.g. the slide in this image.)

Ticket sales are really ramping up, thanks to a lovely pic and article about @tahiotepoti in today's ODT! And a great chat with Callum & P on The Hits this morning, where we gave away tickets.

I'll also be talking with @damian_in_dunners on The Breeze tomorrow around 7.30am. Yay for all these lovely people giving us airtime! Thank you 💖

And Friday night's performance of Invisible to the Naked AI is 3/4 sold out, so don't wait to buy tickets on the day.

I have no idea what I was doing in this moment, but it captures how delighted I am with feedback from audiences at last week's first performance of Invisible to the Naked AI.

Here's just a small snippet!

I gave the Christchurch people who came along 11/10 for their enthusiasm. Can Dunedin match this? We'll find out this Thursday and Friday at TAHI Ōtepoti Festival!

"Dunedin has lots of hidden, underrated treasures – The Museum of Natural Mystery, Lan Yuan Chinese Garden, the Dead Souls Bookshop, and my new favourite, comedian Nicola Brown."
Ruth Agnew, Flat City Field Notes

Apparently I'm a tourist attraction now.
Cool! Slay! Lit!

Which is funny because I do mention an actual Dunners tourist magnet, but not for any of the reasons you might expect.

Come join me and many fabulous performers at TAHI Ōtepoti Festival this week. Maybe this fest will also become a new local fave, if we all get on board!
