Why is the silence after a long-term relationship SO loud?

Because I’m sorry, having a thought and then just… keeping it to myself??? Horrific 😭

Who am I supposed to tell that the woman in front of me at Trader Joe’s bought 14 avocados. Who needs to know that I’ve changed my opinion on something I said three hours ago. Where do I submit my completely unnecessary live commentary of the day???

And sometimes it doesn’t even feel like heartbreak.

It’s just this bizarre quiet where your life is still happening and your brain is still yapping at exactly the same volume… but suddenly there’s no one automatically on the other end of it.

And idk maybe THAT’S what I wasn’t prepared for.

Because wow. It is QUIET in here 😭

I’ve caught myself thinking this so many times lately… I wish I could go back to being 20 and just start again.

Not because I actually want to be 20 again lol. But because there’s this part of me that thinks if I went back knowing everything I know now, maybe I could do life properly this time.

Start earlier. Choose differently. Waste less time. Know who I was sooner.

And then I think about all these women we grew up watching.

They were starting over. Moving cities. Changing careers. Dating the wrong people. Falling in love. Falling out of it. Getting things completely wrong and trying something else.

And the weird thing is… I never watched any of them and thought they were behind.

I never thought, oh my she should’ve figured this out five years ago.

I just thought I was watching her life unfold.

And idk, that really got me.

Because maybe when we say we wish we could go back, what we actually mean is that we miss how much possibility we thought we had ahead of us.

At 20, you have no idea who you’re going to meet. Where you’ll live. What you’ll become obsessed with. Which plans will fall apart and somehow lead you somewhere completely different.

But… I don’t know those things now either.

There are people I haven’t met yet who might become huge parts of my life. Places I haven’t been that could eventually feel like home. Versions of myself I literally can’t picture yet.

Maybe we’re never supposed to reach an age where the story has been decided and we’re just… living out the plan.

Maybe there’s no age where you stop being at the beginning of something.

Which is great because I really don’t think I could survive being 20 again 😭

POV: You broke up so now nothing scares you, even the internet.

No but on a more serious note lol, I feel like I haven’t been myself online.

Lately I feel like the world is constantly pushing the idea of the ‘digital world’ vs ‘real life’… and I think it’s actually harmful, even if it’s meant to help? Because I think it’s accidentally pushing us to create two distinct versions of ourselves. As if we’re supposed to be different people online.

And truly, I think it’s making it easier for some people to become a version of themselves that can be mean & bully people online.

Or just a version that doesn’t really feel like them at all.

I think it’s perpetuating the very ‘fakeness’ that people try to highlight with that ‘fake vs real’ concept in the first place, because we end up creating an almost fake version of ourselves. The ironyyyy.

So I think we need to reallyy remember the digital world is still real people, real feelings, real insecurities, real emotions… Maybe then we can act more real too?

And I definitely don’t think the answer is that we should become more digital lol. God knows we don’t need that 😭

I just wonder if when we are here, maybe we could bring a little more of our actual real selves with us?

Maybe the goal isn’t ‘real life vs online life’ at all. Maybe it’s just having one version of yourself that you actually recognise wherever you are?

Anywayyy, this is my attempt at doing that.

Being a little less scared to be myself on here. Saying what I actually think. Probably oversharing lol.

A new era I guess.

So this is love... 🌹 Opening your windows to this view of the Piazza Navona is such a unique & overwhelmingly beautiful experience which you can only do from your suite at @lifestylesuitesrome. Thank you for such an incredible stay & for waking us up with delicious macaroons 🥺❤️

The piazza dates back to 86AD and holds three of the most majestic fountains of the world, including the famous ‘Fontana dei Quattro Fuimi’, commissioned in the 16th century by Pope Innocent X.

It was designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini to elegantly represent the four great rivers of the four continents recognized at the time: the Nile in Africa, the Ganges in Asia, the Danube in Europe and the Río de la Plata in America.

But the fountains of Rome represent so much more than just art - they provided local Romans with a much needed supply of clean water & were praised as a pure gift from the Gods, with each one holding a reigning deity. taken in Rome, Italy by @itsnicoledlp

Positano really is a magical, mesmerizing place. But...

What saddens me is the exploitation of the area for tourism to a point where this beautiful little fishing village can become an unenjoyable whirlwind of chaos in the summer months. I completely understand and support the need for tourism in this area for economic purposes but surely there should be a balance to allow for sustainability.

Ultimately I think this mass rapid tourism could lead to the demise of Positano, as it risks erosion from wear & tear, just like our beloved Machu Picchu. It needs to be loved and cared for.

The only ONE tiny beach of Positano is now almost completely privatized except for a few meters, international cuisines and bars are starting to take over to cater for tourists, the small homes have changed use to touristic accommodation and all the locals are moving away. The culture is changing to a man-made culture which is ultimately just a representation of their original culture.

We spoke to some local artists which had such a pain in their heart from what this place is becoming. They no longer enjoyed their work there, as it turned from a passion to a means of survival. They now watch people dress up to take pictures all day and then party all night at the nightclubs, without caring about their culture at all.

I completely agree with @aggie who also talked about this saddening part of Positano & actually took the step to leave abruptly because of the pressure society puts in a place like this.

I really suggest visiting this place outside of the summer months, or waking up at sunrise to be able to actually absorb this place in all its natural glory.
