What started as a painting class at five turned into a journey I never imagined. 🎨
I was just five when I started taking art classes and painted my first oil painting at six! (slide 2!).
For the next 12 years, I spent almost every week with the same little group of 8–10 friends, learning everything from pencil drawing, charcoal and Conté to pastels, watercolors, gouache, acrylics and oils.
Painting was simply part of growing up.
At 18, I started my pilot training. Between flying, fitness and painting, I wanted to make time for everything I loved. So I decided to find new homes for my paintings.
But selling art through a screen? I never believed anyone would buy it without seeing it in person. I launched this page as LOTUS, inspired by my Persian name, Niloofar, and within a week, someone bought my first painting (slide 3!).
That sale proved me wrong.
It grew into custom portraits, commissioned recreations, original pieces, showroom collaborations and my own in-person exhibition. Then COVID moved everything online, copyright limits and flight training meant many works never made it here.
My feed grew quiet, but the brush never left my hand.
In February 2025, I moved to Canada.
The past year and a half has been filled with building a new life, working, learning and exploring new opportunities.
I knew I wanted to give painting the time it deserved, this time with a clearer artistic vision and a more professional approach.
Pilot by training👩🏽‍✈️Painter by heart👩🏽‍🎨

Ten years later, LOTUS is now NILO.

A new name. A new chapter. The same little girl who fell in love with painting at five.

Welcome to NILO’s art world. 🪷 taken in Toronto, Ontario by @itsniloos

.

The most beautiful days of my life have been spent here,
and I am so lucky to have had the chance to live my dream every day.
Is there any happiness greater than having your body where your heart belongs? Absolutely not. 🤍✈️
