/appreciate the journey, all the highs and lows of it.

after years of writing and producing for others, i finally decided to step out as an artist myself. it was really scary—not only because of how people might perceive me, but also because of the constant self-doubt.

over the years, you build this image of yourself and this idea of who you are. eventually, those things can turn into walls around you. those walls took years to break down, but it’s all been worth it.

now i get to express myself however i want and share it with the world on my own terms. for the first time in years, i feel like i’m in control of my work and my life/

i feel great here 😭 i’ve always acknowledged my Sámi roots but grew up in the southern Finland most of my life mainly visiting Lapland couple times a year so I didn’t grow up close to my community. I didn’t really learn the language as well as I know finnish and I think like that led to some form of disconnect. I think the craziest switch happened this year when competing in @sami.grand.prix with @ssmienna and later on partying at @sami.easter.festival . The experience and the music made me feel things that no song had ever made me feel until that moment. It was deeper than just music. For the first time in my life I felt this strong connection with my roots and re-discovered an identity that was lost. Since then I’ve been blessed to work and build more with some of the amazing creatives in the community. It’s beautiful to see how Sámi music and art scene is evolving and I’m glad to be a part of it. Ol Johan and @jesse.haetta you guys play a huge role in this all so thank you. And another huge thank you to @ssmienna @ellinorhalvari @hildalansman @ailuvalle @lauratee980 @oikeastiarmas @9520festivala for making these past couple weeks amazing.

I didn’t know if I was gonna post this or not, but as am sitting in the car leaving this place I honestly feel a little sad, but also so grateful. I don’t know if anyone here has similar stories would love to hear them if you wanna share. Life is great y’all taken in Kautokeino by @itsokniko
