Did you know that you have an important decision to make on May 6th? Please use your vote in the referendum to give us a better system and get back control of Sheffield! #sheffield #itsourcity #yorkshireis #sheffielddeservesbetter #lovingsheffield #sheffieldpeoplesreferendum #may6thelection #SheffRef21 #voteforchange #voteforachange #sheffieldissuper #sheffieldreferendum by @itsourcitysheff
What if Sheffield Council had this kind of energy - genuine enthusiasm to share exciting decisions with communities across the city... We can get there, but only if we VOTE FOR CHANGE at the Sheffield People's Referendum on May 6th! WE DESERVE BETTER. #SheffRef21 #sheffield #itsourcity #democracy #sheffieldpeoplesreferendum #sheffieldissuper #may6th #voteforchange by @itsourcitysheff
The unbelievable truth about Sheffield Council: * 74 of the 84 councillors you vote in have virtually no say in anything and are excluded from all important decisions. * 99.9% of voters did not vote for the council leader, but they alone can override ALL decisions made. * Our cabinet system suppresses debate and has no obligation to listen to opinions from anyone outside the 10 person cabinet. We have a one-off chance to change this - the referendum is nothing to do with party politics or the local election. It is to decide if the people of Sheffield want to change the actual way our council works and how decisions are made. #SheffRef21 #sheffield #stannington #wisewood #beauchief #netheredge #broomhill #sheffieldpeoplesreferendum #sheffieldissuper #sheffielddeservesbetter #abbeydale #sharrow #crookes by @itsourcitysheff
Most people in Sheffield are astounded that the councillors they vote in don't have the right to represent them, when most council decisions are made. "What's the point in voting then?" is the understandable reaction. Let's fix this crazy system once and for all. Vote for Change at the referendum on May 6th. #SheffRef21 #sheffield #sheffieldissuper #itsourcity #yorkshireis #sheffielddeservesbetter #lovingsheffield #sheffieldpeoplesreferendum #sheffielduniversity #sheffieldhallam by @itsourcitysheff
In Sheffield Council, the power to make decisions rests with just 10 of the 84 councillors. We are not being represented and our voices are not being heard. You can change this - the results of the Sheffield People's Referendum are legally binding and will create change #SheffRef21 by @itsourcitysheff
For once, your vote can make a REAL and IMMEDIATE difference to the city, whatever political party you might believe in. More info on the problems with our council's current 'strong leader'system via the link on our profile. We have this one chance to change things. It's nothing to do with party politics, it's a referendum, which is separate from the local council elections, it's just on the same day. So please, let's get more democratic and transparent in Sheffield. VOTE FOR CHANGE on May 6th.
