We all have a story and with some we would never imagine they suffered. Just like we will never know a book by its cover. If you see me, it wouldn't cross your mind half of my battle. We all have a journey some great others not. Since an infant there were issues; parents that the extracurricular was more important. One passed then the next years later; both the same ending. I became a mom at 13; kicked out before middle school graduation called a bad influence for being pregnant, no one to fight for me. My world changed and the system set me up for failure. Four kids later I still didn't have it easy! 2014 turn for the worse, a weapon was put to my face saw my life flash by; then 4 months later had an accident, that led me to be physically disabled. On the outside I look great on the inside I have plates,rods, screws and anchors that kept me in surgeries.

I suffer from chronic pain everyday and still need surgeries. I have been and get mentally and physically drained. I smile to give others motivation and courage that if, I can do it, they can too. It definitely is not easy people see you on the outside even family and they don't truly care to ask how you are doing. We live in a selfish world and that is sad. I am truly blessed with the very little that are in my life. As for the others its ok I will still be who I am without your concern.

Behind the smiles there is pain; don't judge a book by its cover this didn't come easy! I am fighting for my place in the world. One pain,struggle,setback at a time!

To my spouse and the ones who truly care in my family this is for you (by the way Dina you are my family). I have broken and continue to break cycles. As long as I can, I will continue. To my small circle of friends that have truly cared and never questioned me thank you!

Thank you to all at Bronx Community College! President, my Advisor,all the faculty and staff,my professors, my federal work study supervisor. This became a home away from home that helped me accomplish one of my biggest dreams! Now I can continue this journey with prayer that I can make it to my end goal one day.
