Fish
@heavypaintapp

I be at happy hour sushi world thinking about how every good game from my childhood was island themed or had an island in it. Just a lot of water in my media consumption (pisces btw)

Study // an old painting I did two years ago that I don’t know why I didn’t post - for some reason I thought it wasn’t very good. But now I like it a lot actually. I’m going through old PSD’s and I totally lost the one I was doing recently, RIP. I used to listen to so much Ink Spots and Billie Holiday back in highschool and it’s all coming back to me (i’m ancient) by @itsrlyryan

Head Sculpture // Clay
My first sculpture ever!!! i’m so proud of myself because I never thought i’d get into sculpting but I really enjoyed it. I learned so much about the form and I highly recommend it to anyone who draws or paints. It was a wonderful challenge and I owe a lot of this to the queen of sculpture @vanessafranessa and our amazing teacher @brittanyryanart . Check out her portfolio and take her class! Portrait is of @reeddesigns … he said it looks like him so i’ll take that lol 🙏 a second sculpture otw brb taken in Fullerton, California by @itsrlyryan

Fairy // My beautiful dark twisted october
my screen tablet broke and I haven’t been doing pieces lately so I just wanted to draw something fun on my new intuous m. I had to frankenstein like three different references for this which sucked. some inspo from Jeremy Mann here.

Uhhhh man what can I say life is good right now, and my desire to destroy has been quelled by the desire to create (this is how the Roman Empire was built). If someone wants to talk to me about “The Wire” or “Neon Genesis Evangelion” that would be very cool because i cannot shut up about it. Alot of updates incoming and i’ll be back on my bs as usual. this is #digitalart #charcoal . love all of u by @itsrlyryan

Summer has begun.
.
.
.
I did this all in a 6 hour session and it’s the most satisfying painting (in terms of process) i’ve ever done. I’ve been focusing more on making a simple statement and working through how an image feels… I wanted that sense of atmosphere and heat you get at noon.
This is a clip from the film “Picnic at Hanging Rock” (1975) which I haven’t seen yet. Have a great summer☀️

Sketch // Hairpiece

I think I too many liberties with the ref but also couldn’t get it to the realism I wanted. This looked cooler so whatever. 🤷‍♀️Im doing like 2 challenges and drawing everyday so its been hectic! One thing that’s difficult about drawing faces is the eyes - you can’t draw them too detailed or too sharp, or else they start to look like plastic. Still figuring things out and exploring a ton of styles this year. I will post more but only stuff I like sorry

A master copy I finished of one of my favorite painters, Joaquin Sorolla (1863-1923). He was mostly known for his huge dynamic range and subtle shifts of value/color within the lights and shadow. I learned a ton just working within the grays! Studying from great work is integral to learning or somn idk. Last slide is the original.

My sister @jesslovesbest got married and damn, I had to walk her down the aisle and that got me straight messed up. It was such a wonderful moment that I will literally never forget mostly from how many people saw me bawling my eyes out hahaha

anyway, here are some stills I took using only a 50mm, no flash, and in 115 degree weather. I wanted to capture something timeless, as always, and give a look into their energy - how I know them to be.

Congrats again Jessica!! I love you, and I’m so happy for you and Clyde!! you pulled it off!! you deadass trapped this man!! hahaha jk❤️

also, shoutout to @sunriseblooms for the amazing (bussin)👌🏼bouquet which we carried through TSA and @renholly for the photography assistance lmao by @itsrlyryan

quick painting study (3hrs) - holding an apple

My relationship with color and painting is entirely self taught, and I cannot believe how far i’ve come in two years and how much I still don’t know. Like yooooo I didn’t even know how to use photoshop back then! I didn’t even know the fundamentals of design or edge variation or color theory. But I learn every single day and I am dummy determined in a way that can almost be described as irresponsible lmfao 🫡

Gma always says “study hard chau and u will succeed maybe not first time ok, but third time, u do better” hahaha
