By the grace of God...

It is by the grace of God that I still decided to finish my degree, even though I resigned from the Honors College. By the grace of God, I sacrificed so much of my own will to get here. By the grace of God, I let go of certain people in my life to get here. By the grace of God, even though I dropped some classes, I was still able to finish. By the grace of God, He kept me! He made me believe in what I couldn't see in myself.🥺

I dreamed of this since I was a little girl, attending numerous college graduations in my lifetime. I always had that thought in my mind: I can't wait for it to be me. I can't wait for my turn.🙂‍↕️

And by Friday, May 9th at 9:00 a.m., it'll finally be my turn. In spite of people telling me not to rush it—it's time. It's been a long time coming, and this season is my due season.👏🏾

So, by the grace of God, I did it.
We did it.
And God did it! 🙏🏾

Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus, for getting me this far and for taking me even farther. Can't wait to see ... what Life Will Be. 😊

Acknowledgements:💐

Thank you to my parents that invested in my passions and my dreams. Thank you to my sisters @maira.boo @athl_brooks.s @mia.j24 that have stuck by my side through this journey since high school. Thank you to my church family at Word of Truth Family Church @wotfc that always poured into me when I had doubts and always encouraged me in my faith. Thank you to my beloved professors, Matthew Clark, Frederick Miller, Angela Kallus, and Cheryl Mitchell for being the ones that stood out the most through my college career and thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for being who you are and giving me strength that I couldn't imagine to go through the finish line.

It's crazy because I didn't know how much art has helped me throughout my childhood and even adulthood. Making art is my safe place to just flow without any hesitations, judgements or unnecessary noise (even mentally).

I tend to be so busy with so many responsibilities or overthink or be indecisive ...but art; everything just makes sense. It flows so smoothly without thinking. Art is how I stay grounded and remain present. When I'm in my zone, the world goes quiet and time stops. For only a couple of hours.

Whatever that thing is that makes you feel like what I just described, don't let go of that. Don't push that to the side. Don't even try to monetize it.

Keep that thing just for yourself alone.

You deserve to have something to keep you grounded, present, content.

With love, Ry 🤍 by @itsryrenee
