she had 3 million people watching her every single month and was closing deals off of luck and timing, not strategy. sound familiar.

you post consistently. you show up, you’re relatable, people comment “obsessed” and “needed this today” and you screenshot it and feel good for about six minutes. then you check your inbox and it’s crickets, or it’s someone asking a question they could’ve googled, or it’s the same five people who’ve never once asked about working with you.

here’s what was actually happening with her, and probably with you too. she was excellent at one job. getting people to like her. funny videos, relatable takes, the kind of content that makes people feel like they know you. that part was never the issue.

what she never built was the part of her content that made the offer make sense. no case studies. no behind the scenes of what actually happens when someone works with her. no content answering the question every single one of those 3 million people were quietly asking, which was “okay but does this actually work.” she was asking people to trust her as a person and skipping the part where she earned trust in the thing she was selling.

so we stopped the content that only built likability and started building content that built belief in the offer. case studies. the actual mechanics of her method. the specific transformation her buyers were craving, laid out so clearly they could picture their own life inside it.

two weeks. 5 leads a month to 20 qualified leads a week. same audience. she didn’t need new people to watch her. she needed the people already watching to be given a reason to believe.

You’re staring at a sales page you’ve read twice, doing mental math on an investment you already know the answer to, but you keep running the numbers again like this time the invoice will feel smaller.

The version of you who has a note titled “pros and cons” that’s 3 months old that you open once a month. Who has the checkout page bookmarked for something she’s “still thinking about.” Who has told herself “I work better independently” so many times it started to sound like a personality trait instead of what it actually is, a defense mechanism with really good PR.

That kind of self-protection doesn’t just block out the people who would burn you again. It blocks out the people who would actually get you to your goals.

I think about it like dating. If you got burned by one bad date, you don’t swear off dating forever, you just get more discerning about who you let in.

But somewhere along the way with money and mentorship, we skip the discernment step and go straight to the blanket statement. One bad investment becomes “investing doesn’t work for me.” One unmet expectation becomes “I’m just better off by myself.”

The thing you’re not saying out loud is that it was never really about the price tag.
It’s:
what if I hand this to someone and I’m still stuck a year from now, except also broke?
what if I’m the common denominator and this happens again?
what if I finally admit I need help and it turns out I still can’t be helped?

So you keep the tab open instead of the invoice, because an open tab can’t disappoint you.

Trust me, I get it. I sat with those same thoughts for 5 months, going back and forth, making the list, closing it, reopening it, telling myself I’d decide “soon” for the 4th month in a row.

But here’s the thing. The fear never left. What actually changed was finally being honest that there wasn’t a version of me getting where I wanted to go alone, no matter how long I gave myself to “figure it out.”

So let me ask you the question I couldn’t ask myself for 5 months.

If nothing changes, if you keep doing exactly what you’re doing right now, are you actually going to get there? Or are you just going to get really good at being almost ready? by @itssarahmemmer
