3 high schools. 2 countries. 1 degree later.
I moved from New York to Manila in 2019, and it’s been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Even as someone half-Filipino, I often felt like an outsider. New people, a different culture, and language barriers made it hard. But I pushed through, overcame a lot, and made it to such a huge milestone, my college graduation.

If you asked why I chose De La Salle University, I’d say it chose me (iykyk). Four years later, I still believe that. I’ve met some of the most talented, funny, and genuine people here. I’m so grateful for the friendships, the classes, productions, Archers Network, and my Inquirer internship. These experiences helped me grow in ways I’ll always carry with me.

I am thankful for my friends back home for being my constant support through every single thing I’ve been through and always putting a smile on my face. And to my friends in the Philippines, thank you for making me feel like I belong. You guys truly made living here easier and fun🥹🫂

To my family, thank you for giving me every chance to grow and succeed. To my dad, I know you’re watching over me. You gave me the best start in life. I promise to continue to uplift your legacy and make you proud. I love you forever ❤️

Today, I stand proud as a woman of African American and Filipino heritage. The strength of both cultures lives in me. I am the daughter of talented, resilient parents and a dedicated, loving stepfather. As a college graduate, I know that identity is power, growth comes through challenges, and purpose is something we create every day. This is just the beginning.

Maraming salamat, DLSU 🏹
