Friends that I sampled in the album recordings: @sarahuang1995 @zeonhoxiang and Niko Langenhuijzen, one of the greatest mentors that did a huge influence in my life and my career.

And all the friends that has given me their feedback and support when producing the album.

And thanks to you my childhood friend Qiqi, we weren’t able to catch up with each other ever since we grew up, and I hated that I didn’t have the chance to at least meet you once before I left for the Netherlands. Your story was a huge inspiration to me in this album, and I wrote a song about you in it. I just wanted to let you know that you were one of the strongest person that I met in my life and this album is also for you.

Jië Tsaan was my journey alone, and now it’s a journey with everyone of you. Enjoy the music :)

Hi my new album is Jië Tsaan (“Picnic”)

Jië Tsaan is a tender experiment in memory, identity, and imperfection.

Recorded entirely with an iPhone’s built-in microphone, the record turns everyday sounds—breath, distortion, background noise—into emotional landscapes.

Blending experimental electronics, indie pop, and dreamlike storytelling, Jië Tsaan captures what it means to exist between languages and geographies.

Across eleven tracks, the artist unfolds a quiet narrative: from self-irony and cultural displacement, to love, loss, and acceptance.

The title, spelled in Dutch phonetics of the Mandarin word “野餐 (picnic)”, comes from his time working at a Dutch warehouse named Picnic.

There, surrounded by people from all corners of the world, he found the metaphor that defines the record:

“We were the ones truly picnicking—sitting on the ground, surviving together.”

Through lo-fi textures and raw honesty, Jië Tsaan reclaims imperfection as authenticity, transforming fragility into resilience.

Bang the drum, come through…

You’re invited to dance or make music at Call & Response on May 9!

An evening of spontaneous collaboration, friendly encounters, and playful creativity.

We kick off with a Rhythm & Movement workshop by Júlio and Saskia where we will be exploring our natural rhythms, syncopation, groove, and the connection between live percussion and movement.

After the workshop, we share a potluck-style food break, feel free to bring something, eat something, and connect over conversations.

In the evening, the stage opens for our staple open podium. Sign up to join the floor, all poets, musicians, and movers who love improvisation are all welcome.

Bar and sign-up open at 19:00. Opening performance by the guest artist starts at 19:30 sharp.

@itssparkling is a singer-songwriter, performer, and music producer. With his voice and synthesizer, he creates dreamlike soundscapes that invite both calm and playfulness. His creativity and presence light up the floor, inspiring others to join in and explore. He is a creative beyond his keys, he can dance amazing too!

During the opening performance of Call & Response, Peishan adds his unique flavor and sparkling energy to the collective.

Don’t miss this beautiful opening moment at 19:30 sharp, where he will perform alongside fellow improvising (Abi, Damaris, Anastasis, Laila & Barend) artists to warm up the floor.

Two years ago when we met during a residency program, I (Peishan) briefly thought it would be difficult for us to complete a full piece together. From our daily habits and hobbies to the creative realms we were familiar with, we were very different people.

Gradually, I began to realize we weren’t as different as we imagined. It’s just that at some point in life, Iris picked up needle and thread, while I picked up headphones.
For us, creation is an antenna connecting our inner worlds to the outside. It has always unfolded very naturally. So for this project we wanted to bring these worlds to life for others to experience. Trigger Bang Patch turned into an interactive environment composed of our disciplines, interests and experiences.

If you’re wondering “How should I approach it? How should I appreciate it?”
Just be there and have fun :))
