Hi, let me introduce myself, my name is Terra Layne and I’m an actor based in New York City.

My aim as an actor is to create art that moves people. To transport them into a space where they can connect to human behaviors without fear or judgment. I find acting to be the ultimate expression of truth, the place where humans and society shape each other.

I’ve always been a performer. For as long as I can remember I’ve felt most at ease on stage in front of a camera, or competing in sports, on a tennis court, surfing waves, or on a field. There is a freedom in the confines. Acting has given me the gift to be able to focus my energy deliberately, offering me creative liberation to connect with others. I’ve studied method acting on and off since I was 17 my love for Shakespeare developed young when I won a monologue competition as Miranda in, The Tempest. Despite growing up with an artist parent, I feared the artist’s path for most of my adult life. I lived abroad in Australia, hiked and biked for months at a time by myself. I started a nonprofit went into advertising worked at countless restaurants, but always came back to the dream.

It wasn’t until the pandemic that I had space time and support to craft a life built around this pursuit. In 2021 I filmed a short film that went on to win several awards and nominates for Best Actress. That was the confirmation I needed to help me commit fully.

I strive to collaborate on work that leaves lasting impacts, challenge perspectives, and reflect the complexities of the human condition. The process matters as much as the product, thus I find joyful resilience in the struggle and the unwavering commitment to elevate everyone in the room.

nothing continues to profoundly change my perception of life, than meditations of appreciation and gratitude for everything life has to offer. even the hardships I am grateful for, not because they happened, but for the lessons they taught me and the person I am because of them. feelings of joy, love, loss, and compassion no longer overwhelm me to the point of self destruction but fuel a foundation capable of sustained growth and rebirth

keep going, i love you by @itsterralayne
