“I want to see young people in America feel the spirit of the 1960s and find a way to get in the way. To find a way to get in trouble. Good trouble, necessary trouble.”
-
Thank you for your sacrifices, your energy, your hope and your service. RIP, John Lewis.

A big shoutout and congrats to @dezhester who just signed on for his 2nd year as a Live Content Creator for @mlb!
-
As you can see from a few of his shots here, Dez’s eye and holistic understanding of the game and its players, and their personalities, lead to him capturing some of the most exciting and compelling shots we’ve seen from today’s game.
-
He recently also covered the protests in LA, documenting this historical moment from the frontlines. Swipe through for a few of these powerful shots, and hit his web site for more.
-
Go give Dez a follow, check out his work at dezhester.com and keep an eye on the content he creates this season and beyond.

Heralded by a Dodgers coach early in his career as “the next Willie Mays”, Glenn Burke was the first MLB player to come out as gay.
-
Burke is also said to have created the high-five when he congratulated teammate Dusty Baker after a home run off of Astros pitcher J.R. Richard.

Tupac Shakur would have been 49 today. Happy Birthday, Pac. Your words, spirit and wisdom are just as, if not more, powerful today as ever.
-
As a high school and college player I played for several coaches and programs who banned rap and hip-hop from the clubhouse and field. This is another example of the ‘coded language’ around baseball that tells many Black players “Your talent is welcomed, but your culture is not.” Once again, it’s not hard to imagine how this environment makes baseball appeal less, and other sports appeal more, to a Black athlete. The culture and the code have to change.

“I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
Unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
Learn to see me as a brother instead of two distant strangers
And that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
But things changed, and that's the way it is.” by @itsthegrit
