After my 2nd child was born I remember feeling like the walls and all the clutter was caving in on me. There was so much chaos I couldn’t control that the only thing I could do was to start decluttering.

I just had my 3rd child and I definitely don’t have it all figured out. But I’m sharing what I know, what I’ve learned about decluttering and routines and what is working for our family.

There are so many demands on moms, so much pressure to “do it all”. Let’s work together to find ways we can at least simplify our home to create more peace. I hope you’ll join me!

So many projects around here but can honestly say the little ones elevate our spaces so much. A simple cafe curtain and a tension rod added so much cozy to the cold laundry room.

It would only be better if I knew how to make the curtains myself, had to rely on Etsy for this one!

Even when you’re 99.9% sure, it can feel so hard to let go of the maternity clothes. And honestly I’m not sure I’ll ever have that 100% done feeling, so for now I’m going to keep these because what’s the rush?

That said, I don’t have unlimited space so I’m giving myself some guardrails to keep the inventory manageable (and able to fit on one shelf of my hall closet)

1. Keep quality- my sister and I shared these clothes so some of them have been worn a lot and by now are worn out!

2. Keep what you liked to wear! You want to feel comfortable and beautiful in your clothes when you’re walking around with a big belly. Not frumpy.

3. Set a bin limit. This is one of my favorite hacks when you’re having a hard time decluttering. I gave myself a 2 bin limit and I’m only keeping what will fit inside.

When you’re looking for a home, there’s often a list of must-haves. And for a while a double vanity was on that list for us.

But after years of looking and finally finding a dream home, the vanity situation seemed like a lower priority. So we downsized bathrooms and honestly it’s been better than we anticipated. Here’s our strategies:

1. Essentials only in the bathroom. Daily use items. Backstock and less frequent items (nail care, face masks, monthly products) are stored in the hall closet

2. Large, functional medicine cabinet that doubles as a mirror. This has given us so much more room.

3. Creative storage for the hair dryer and straightener

4. Be mindful of each other. We used to get ready at the same time nearly every morning and night and we just can’t be brushing our teeth at the same time anymore. Takes a little extra thought and a little extra mindfulness.

So if you’re in the same boat and a double vanity is really important, we’ve been there too. Just know that there’s ways to make it work if the home is worth it 💛

This turned out just as I hoped it would. Perfectly convenient. Our amazing neighbors brought us an apple pie to welcome us to the neighborhood which was so kind and thoughtful. We baked it and enjoyed it! But I simply could not be trusted to not eat the whole thing in 3 days.

Good news is you can freeze just about anything and this pie will not be going to waste. Give this a try this fall if you’ve got leftover treats! @theoriginalgreenpan

Sometimes is the “boring” stuff that’s actually the most exciting. These are some of the items we were quickly missing as soon as we moved so they’ve been installed quickly! Everything linked in my bio in ShopMy!

Loving our @homedepot blinds they will custom cut them for you in store!

@revashelf taking care of my trash can necessities. Never realized how important this was to me until I didn’t have it!

8 new light fixtures outside = instantly elevated the exterior. Only one panel of glass broken in transit and shout out to @lampsplus for excellent customer service. They shipped us extra glass panels, free of charge so we have the one replaced and extra on hand if we ever need them again.

One day I’ll cook dinner again at 430 or 5 like a regular person, we’ll eat it hot from the stove and not rewarded in the microwave. But for now, a naptime cooking session is the only way this is getting done and that’s the rhythm that works for us.

Teething, sleep regression, new room environment hitting this guy hard. Lots of night waking and day time clinginess. I was frustrated. But then I realized this might be one of the last times I use the @wildbird while cooking dinner and decided to savor all the cuddles. ILYSM little boy.

If the Saw Horses are out that means I know what I’m doing right? These old laundry room cabinets are here to stay for the foreseeable future so they needed a quick upgrade. Easy to do and so satisfying!
