They give you the tools, but you have to paint the picture. 🖌️

Art has always been the language I understood most.

As a kid, I was below reading level. I needed extra reading and writing support throughout elementary school, summer classes in intermediate school, and constant reminders to keep pushing even when things didn’t come naturally. Back then, nobody would’ve looked at me and imagined this moment.

Now, after years of growth, sacrifice, faith, and creation, I’m graduating from Boston University with:

• Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design • 3.7 GPA • 6x Dean’s List Honors • Co-Founder & Co-Chair of the Black Student Task Force • Vice President of Umoja (BU Black Student Union) • Co-Founder & Creative Director of Regal Rain Co. • Innovate@BU Summer Accelerator Participant • One Hundred Black Men Scholar • Kahn Awards Semifinalist • Firemen’s Association Scholarship Recipient

One of the ONLY Black Men to graduate from Boston University’s School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Graphic Design — joining the small percentage of Black men in America to earn college degrees, and an even smaller number within the world of art and design.

As a Black American, this degree carries generations with it.
To think that descendants of people once denied literacy, denied education, and denied the freedom to create freely… now get to become artists, designers, creative directors, founders, and storytellers at institutions like this; that reality will never be lost on me.

I am truly my ancestors’ wildest dream.
To my parents: thank you for every sacrifice, every prayer, every lesson, and every moment you believed in me before I fully believed in myself.

To my sister: thank you for always standing beside me through every season of this journey.
And to everyone who supported the vision — thank you!
