First listen on v1 of the new to me restored vintage audio gear living room listening zone. Very pleased with how it sounds and feels. 🤯🔊

@herbiehancock ‘Head Hunters’, released in 1973, was the first jazz record that deeply resonated with me as a 19-year-old almost exclusively into jam bands. Beyond shifting the way I heard and thought about and music, it was the first platinum-selling jazz record, pushed synthesizers to the forefront of the genre, revolutionized electronic instrumentation, and laid the foundational grooves for modern hip hop sampling. 🏆⚡️

That dude Fela typically isn’t much of a howler, but he felt compelled to let it all out during the intro to “Watermelon Man” when percussionist Bill Summers plays blown beer bottles to imitate Hindewhu, a Central African Pygmy style of vocal hooting. 💛✨
