Sharing some of my desk setup before a few home office updates in the next few weeks! Some of these items are nearly 10 years old now, while some are brand new! My custom SFFPC is built in a @dancase_ that has traveled the world with me back in college. It started with a GTX 1050 and now has an RTX 4070 Super. I'd make more updates if I could but PC parts prices have skyrocketed. The mini monitor has been my solution for a couple years to achieving what I often need a secondary monitor to do without having to have a large second display. The Mode Encore is a recent keyboard build and my first electrocapacitive board with the Dynacaps kit and a custom plate. Everything's powered by my M4 Pro Macbook Pro for work, and the PC for gaming. Also shout out to @andrew_manganelli for sending over the sweet Studio desk mat - matches the Extended 2048 keycaps on the keeb perfectly. A close up of my Mode Encore build with Dynacaps. The capslock key is somewhere in storage I need to fish out. To the side of my desk is an Ikea Besta unit for storage and some wall shelves to display some fun stuff. Also shown is my current camera rig - the Sony A7Siii. And another random Encore build. A fun little desk object I bought from @craighillcompany is this 1" Invar metal cube - the most dimensionally stable metal on Earth. Built up my first EC keyboard over the weekend during the big storm. Pleasantly surprised by the sound and feel - it's like a silent tactile with a non-mushy bottom out and some Cherry scratchiness. Built on a FW26 Mode Encore colorway (Golden Beige) with Dynacaps Medium Doems and gold springs. Lubed with 205g0 on sliders, 105g0 on springs, and 206g2 on stabs. 3 rules to achieve cozy, luxurious, hotel-style curtains: 1. Go big - wall to wall and floor to ceiling. Go with pleated, light filtering curtains that are 1.5-2x the width of your wall and let it have 1-2" of drape on the floor. 2. Add cove/recessed lighting. A warm LED strip spanning the width of the curtains adds a calming glow, perfect for winding down in the evening. 3. Use a valance box. Hides the rod, creates a cleaner appearance, and lets you use a track system. This brand creates a custom sized box for your wall that's easy to put together - though I'd recommend 3 people when mounting. Since moving in a month ago, adding these curtains have made the biggest impact on turning our living room into a cozy space. It adds texture through textiles, softly filters the harsh light, while also providing privacy from across the street neighbors. The valance box was gifted from the brand 'zShine' on Amazon and it's completely transformed how our living room feels.
