Happy WNBA Season Opening Weekend, y’all!If you’re new here, welcome! 🫂 I’m a hugger.My name is Zena and basically, I like to yap. Like, A LOT. So…I deleted Instagram and all other social platforms on my birthday because I didn’t want to be even slightly influenced to do anything for the sake of social media. 🗣️ “DO IT FOR THE PLOT!” 🙅🏾‍♀️ no. I also didn’t want to fall victim to the thief of joy—comparison. This app especially will have you questioning everything about your life if you’re not careful. Five minutes of scrolling and you’re trying to start a new workout plan, a new career or a new hairstyle. Oh Just me? Cool cool.So apps were removed and gratitude was applied. As I reflect on my week, I was grateful 🏀 to have the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing minds and talents in women’s basketball (@capnsabsss @ariivory @_meghanmckeown @autumnjohnson.tv) this week and for the love we received for that work💝 for the cutest birthday dinner with my future hubby who gave me THE most thoughtful gift 👯‍♀️ closing out the weekend, singing along with one of my closest friends @alisacarmichael as we watched my current fave @oliviadeano perform for the first time in Vegas. 🫶🏾 aaand I saw so many other friends out there randomly! ❤️🤗(Btw—I AM IN LOVE WITH OLIVIA EVEN MORE NOW.)I felt very much ✨present ✨for all of these moments and didn’t take ANY for granted—something I can’t say I have been doing leading up to this birthday. Between trying to grow my career and planning this wedding, this past year has been a BLUR. Really these past few years. I’ve just been worried about the next step, the next opportunity, the next, the next, the next. I’ve not only missed events, trips, dinners, birthdays because of conflicts—I’ve kinda missed out some of my own life. I wonder if some of you feel similarly.So, this birthday, I’m celebrating being here, in this moment, in this life…especially as I prepare for a new chapter very soon. 💍 Thank you for every single birthday wish! (And please don’t ever feel like you “missed it.” I am always grateful to receive well wishes🫶🏾❤️🫂 by @itszenakeita
