Cusco is my happy place. 🥰 Delicious food, fabulous place to find beautiful textiles/clothing and jewelry, super affordable luxury hotels AND an overwhelming array of day trip options. Hostels are some of my favorites in the country as well - usually set in these old historic colonial-style mansions - rarely a dull moment.

Coming off a week of backpacking through Chile and Bolivia, we were in much need of laundry service and a nice bed.

Only 1 night spent on the Amalfi coast, but it just happened to be the 6 yr anniversary of our first kiss. For those of you who don’t know us well, we have been inseparable and disgustingly in love ever since that day so you better believe there was some celebrating!
.
Began with some Limoncello by the sea. Followed by the absolute BEST tuna tartar of our lives as just one of our many mouthwatering courses at the romantic @next2positano, paired with the most delectable Italian wines and cocktails. The hospitality and professionalism from the whole service team was on point to say the very least! We still dream of the dessert cocktail they brought us to finish the night. 🤤🤤🤤 The freshest ingredients paired with their attention to detail really made the whole experience a special one.

We THEN took our unfinished bottle of wine to go and danced through the empty streets, exploring the city by night.

📍Cottonwood Pass -> Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument -> Jacob Hamblin Arch

We had a hot tip from a friend to take the “secret” side entrance into Grand Staircase Escalante, known as Cottonwood Pass. It did not disappoint! Stopped for a hike to stretch our legs and search for cool rocks- found em! (And thus, the alter ego of Geologist Griff was born 🥹🥹🥹)

We were also surprised to see so much evidence of animal life in tracks on the ground- but in the light of day, none were to be seen. Figure this place must come alive at night!

Then it was more bumpy gravel roads for another 2hrs w/out cell reception, until we made it to the “trailhead” of Jacob Hamlin arch.

The hike was on less of a trail and more of a vast rocky terrain that required a continual game of “I spy rock cairns” to know what direction you were supposed to be headed. (We were sure to help with upkeep for future adventurers.)

Once we made it to the canyon, we had the option of either walking 6 additional miles to an easy access point, or we could brave the steep climb down with minimal gear… but we prefer to live dangerously 😏

As you can see, our effort paid off! Only saw 1 other person on our entire adventure, and with no cell reception for miles it really felt like we were out in the wild. Not sure if it was because we did this hike on Thanksgiving, but this is truly an amazing landscape to explore.

We found a hidden beach tucked in among abandoned buildings that once used to be a sulfur mine and living quarters. Milos is a diamond in the rough and hands down my favorite Greek island for adventure and private beaches… so far 😏 taken in Paralía Theiorychía by @itz.travel.time

Trekking through the Bolivian desert. We followed the river flowing through the Anaconda Canyon until we found ourselves a beautiful oasis, complete with #sexyllamas

Simply magical to see this barren high-altitude desert suddenly bursting with life here- and all in thanks to such a tiny water source.

Sunrise on the Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia. One of my bucket list experiences and destinations for photography but these don’t do it justice.

3 full days of travel to get here - 3 Planes + 2 Buses + 1 Jeep - but totally worth it.

Hot tip, stock up on cash and plenty of water and snacks that don’t require refrigeration prior to entering the desert. Eating the produce available at the few stops we made is what most likely led to food poisoning for our entire caravan.

Some of my favorite moments throughout the day exploring Machu Picchu.

With an early morning breakfast packed to go, we were one of the first people in the park before the sun peaked over the mountains. I was elated to be able to find quiet little pockets we had to ourselves for a bit.

Ended the night watching futbol and drinking refreshments in a tiny bungalow suspended above a roaring river.

We slept well that night.
