Dana I’m ngl this one hurts a lot. “Nobody knows how you feel with grief because nobody had the relationship you had with the person you lost.”

I miss you a lot💔 I know I’m suppose to be happy you’re in a better place but everytime I think of you, I cry. As much I hated it, I miss hearing you say “you need a whooping” or “imma beat you” and you only said that bc I was always bothering you lol. I miss having an event and being asked what food I wanted and I would say “idc but I want Dana cooking it.” I miss coming to your house and there’s nothing but laughter and ofc me eating all your food. I just miss you!

There’s so much I can say about you and what I miss but take your rest but watch over me please!

I remember being 5 or 6 and I told my mom I want to be trained for basketball, she texted an old friend of hers and it happened to be you. We met up one day and starting that day you got me ready. Started at Alondra Park then Del Air where I was the only girl on your team, to Price then St. Jerome. I went wherever you went so I can only play for you. I never thought about playing with a different coach after a while. I bonded with you not only as you being my coach but also family.

I was so committed in playing basketball with only you because you taught me a lot. When Coach McCray came to my school when I was in 6 grade and tried to recruit me, I automatically went to you and basically asked for you to come with me because I was afraid to play with any other coach and you became his assistant coach.
Me and you was already talking about the WNBA and maybe we spoke to soon because you can’t even see me in high school ball 😩 Even when I had terrible games, you always found a way to cheer me up and still say that I did a great job but then you tell me the things I need to work on. When my mom needed you to take me to practice or to games you never hesitated and automatically came or see if somebody you know and trust can get me there and you’ll bring me home.
Even though I feel a lot of pain with you being gone because I had a lot of my trust in you and you knew how to keep me going, everything I do is for you. You left behind a whole team and family who love you dearly. You always keep a smile on your face, even when you had hard times.
Tomorrow makes a week and I never cried this much in my life but I know you watching over me. I really miss you. This year you were gonna be 40, man I love you a lot you are a piece of my heart that I have lost 💔

When she was needed most, she showed up 🔥

During the State Playoffs she averaged:
21 PPG
11 AST
7 REB
4 STL

Her dominant postseason performance earned her a spot on the All-State Tournament Team. 🏆

This season, she also achieved:
• PCAC Player of the Year
• PCAC Player of the Month
• Led the State in Assists
• #2 in Steals in the State

This young lady didn’t just meet expectations, she exceeded them every step of the way. Her leadership, toughness, and impact on the game were undeniable all season long.

Sophomore PG Anayla Anderson made her mark across the state 💙⚔️ Arguably the BEST player in the state averaging 21pts 11ast 7rebs and 4stls ON THE BIGGEST STATGE in the Elite 8, Final 4 and State Championship Game. She has received D1 offers and chose what was best for her and her family and we all couldn’t be more proud ! We do our best to put our girls in the best position to be their best selves. We strive to bring out the best in them. Without their buy in and commitment it’s impossible so we are extremely thankful our girls trust us and we all see the results 🥰💙 Ny applied everything she was taught. Gonna miss this kid !

A true floor general that impacts the game on both ends every single night. Her leadership, pace, vision, and defensive pressure helped fuel one of the greatest seasons in program history.

Two years ago, Anayla Anderson followed her coach and her team to MiraCosta, chasing something bigger than herself.
