Arts and culture have the power to connect communities, and @iu_maaa students recently explored that idea firsthand with Michael Orlove of the National Endowment for the Arts. As the NEA’s director of state, local, and regional partnerships, as well as international programming, Orlove gave O’Neill students an inside look at how arts policy, funding, and collaboration take shape at the national level. Michael Orlove is seated and gesturing while talking, wearing a light blue shirt and gray pants. A monitor and desk are in the background. by @iu_maaa

What a typical fall weekend looks like in Bloomington! There is always a festival, show, or fair around town so we are never lacking in arts events or ways to connect with our community!

Especially as a MM-MAAA, finding time to see live performances is essential. That’s why I love Bloomington! Especially when both undergraduate and graduate students are involved in the preparation and execution of projects. Art galleries, museums, contemporary and classical music, we have it all! Bloomington is a perfect place to support young artists and arts administrators.

development opportunities related to my dream career.
After graduation, I hope to pursue art gallery management in Chicago. My ultimate goal is to one day open and manage my very own gallery! by @iu_maaa

Thank you so much to Matthew Creek (BSAM, 2019) for taking the time to meet with our students for his guidance and support! His willingness to share his experience continues to help our students grow as young arts professionals and leaders.

Matthew Creek currently works as the Manager of Popular Programming at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus. Creek graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Arts Management from IU, and currently serves as an Alumni Council Member for the IU Singing Hoosiers. by @iu_maaa

Administrative Intern, Curatorial Assistant

The two aspects I appreciate most about the MAAA program are its curriculum design and its strong emphasis on experiential learning.

This opportunity allows me to gain first hand experience with the entire exhibition-making process!

I participated in every stage of the exhibition, including curatorial research, exhibition preparation, and opening operations. taken in O'Neill Arts Administration by @iu_maaa
