At the O'Neill School, our team works to connect students and alumni to opportunities in their future careers. This week, more than 400 students attended our Community Safety Career Day at IU Indianapolis. This annual event helps students and alumni put faces to their fields of interest, meeting professionals who work in community resilience, public safety, and environmental sustainability. We had more than 40 organizations—including state government agencies, community groups, and law enforcement agencies—on campus, and are thankful to each one of gave of their time to help ensure the next generation of leaders gets the best start possible. Thank you to the dozens of organizations that came out to meet our students and alumni face-to-face and talk to them about their fields of interest. These students are the leaders of tomorrow connecting with the practitioners of today! by @iuioneill

Today, we were honored to present our Community Hero Award to the IDHS Office of Emergency Management in recognition of their commitment to keeping Hoosiers safe during times of disaster.
“At the O’Neill School, our students learn how to help communities address a wide array of crises, from economic hardship and public health emergencies to manmade and natural disasters,” says O’Neill Indianapolis Director of Career Services Stacy Lozer. “IDHS’ Office of Emergency Management shares our commitment to that mission.
Just this summer, the OEM team led efforts to help cities and towns across the state prepare for, respond to, and recover from historic flooding that devastated parts of Indiana. We are honored to recognize OEM’s service to Hoosier communities and the people who call them home.”
IDHS OEM Deputy Director Jessica Kindig, an O’Neill School alumna and associate faculty member, accepted the award during O’Neill’s Community Safety Career Day.
“Receiving this award is a wonderful and humbling surprise,” Kindig says. “We take the mission of caring for and protecting our state and all the people within it very seriously. We want the public to know we are a trusted partner when they need us the most. We have seen what Hoosiers do when they decide to survive and thrive, and it’s an honor to be a part of that.” taken in IU Indianapolis by @iuioneill
