I was born in Romania soon after a dictatorship collapsed. Growing up, I proudly called myself a child of freedom. The end of communism in 1989 is often seen as a liberation. But the effects of the regime did not disappear. Decades of control reshaped how people understood agency, value, and survival, leaving behind patterns that extend far beyond the regime itself.

Romania is now one of the largest sources of sex workers in Europe, a reality often reduced to stigma. Women from Eastern Europe are often seen through a narrow lens: as labor, as care, or as bodies.

Casa Ceaușescu is a personal project that explores how totalitarian regimes echo long after their fall.

This work is dedicated to the women who shared their stories and reclaimed their space in front of my lens.

My deepest gratitude to everyone who helped me bring this project to life.
