☀️ Summer Internship Spotlight ☀️This summer, Anjani Dent, MPA'27, is serving as a McKinney Climate Fellow with the City of Carmel. Here's what she had to share about her experience so far:"My role involves helping Carmel implement energy efficiency and public education strategies from their Climate Action Plan. I calculate city hall's energy, water, and waste data, then upload it into EPA's Energy Star Portfolio Manager, which allows us to assess the building's energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions alongside Carmel's predetermined targets for each metric. I also develop sustainability content for Carmel's monthly newsletter and local newspaper and advertise the city's sustainability programs at community events." by @iuoneill

Here's what she had to share about her experience so far:"In my role as the Environmental, Health, and Safety Intern at Peerless Pump Company, I support the balance of environmental and safety compliance with Peerless's custom water pumps. I also contribute to Peerless's ISO 14001 and 45001 environmental and safety certifications. Here's what he had to share about his experience so far:"I am an Administrative Intern working on the TA and Instructor Handbook for Mayo Clinic's Pre-College Healthcare Academy, which is designed to provide high school students who are interested in a career in healthcare with opportunities to learn from various healthcare professionals and participate in a final capstone project. I will also teach the handbook to the TAs and instructors and be the TA Mentor, assisting TAs when needed and growing my leadership skills. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to connect with several Mayo Clinic professionals, expanding my connections and knowledge within the healthcare industry." by @iuoneill

Here's what she had to share about her experience so far:"I'm currently serving as an Arts Administration Intern at the Indianapolis Opera Company where I work cross-departmentally with events, box office operations, marketing, and development. In this role, I mainly work on CRM projects to improve audience data and reporting, create sponsorship reports, develop earned media for marketing purposes, assist with inventory and event setup, and help maintain accurate donor and patron records to support stronger relationships and organizational growth." by @iuoneill

FIELD DAYS🐓On Tuesdays and Thursday for the past 5 weeks my team and I have traveled to rural communities to learn about sustainable agriculture practices. This has included planting seeds, touring greenhouses, administering vitamins to animals, building rainwater harvesting systems, creating chicken feeders, and learning how to make organic pesticides and fertilizers. Along with this we have conducted focus group interviews (in Spanish) with the technicians and community members to assess the effectiveness and implementation of these practices. For our report we are developing an inventory system of over 600 sustainable practices, as well as an impact matrix and fact sheet. by @iuoneill
