Sport should prepare children for life, not protect them from it. by @ivan_voronoff1

No horses. No bets. Just Jiu-Jitsu. 🥋

We’re open and rolling this Melbourne Cup Day and the only thing we’re betting on is that the purple belts will be late. 💜

Saturday timetable. 12pm Open Mat

See you on the mats. by @ivan_voronoff1

Same coach, same student, slightly different eye line. 🥺 by @ivan_voronoff1

Anyone raising a 3–5 year old knows that learning to manage big feelings takes time.

A 2024 study led by Deakin University researchers found that a structured physical activity program helped preschoolers develop self-control and language skills.

It’s one of the reasons we love introducing little people to
Jiu-Jitsu. Through movement, play and age-appropriate instruction, they’re learning to listen, think, respond and work with a partner.

It’s no surprise our preschool program is one of MJJA’s fastest-growing classes — and often has a waitlist.

There’s no perfect time to start. There’s just today. 🥋

Whatever your age, whatever your experience, there’s a place for you on the mats.

CORE CHILDHOOD MEMORY UNLOCKED 🔓🥋🎈

You, your best friends and the whole crew on the mats for a birthday at Melbourne Jiu-Jitsu Academy.

We’ve been hosting birthday parties at MJJA for years, with options ranging from structured classes to soft play to suit different age groups. Our experienced coaches lead the activities, and no previous BJJ experience is needed.

Bring the cake, food and decorations. We’ll take care of the rest. 💙

When the coach says “no problem” 💀 by @ivan_voronoff1

Because that’s life.

Things won’t always come easily. They’ll fail, feel frustrated and face setbacks.

We can’t make life easy for our kids. But we can give them opportunities to practice working through the hard stuff in a safe and supportive environment.

And if we’ve done our job, they’ll carry that with them long after they leave the mats. 💙 by @ivan_voronoff1

Get out the Kleenex 🥹 It’s almost end-of-year grading, adults!

📅 Save the date: Sunday 29 November

🥋 Grading kicks off at 9am (sharp!)

Then we’re taking the rounds from the mats to the greens!
Join us at Melbourne Bowling Club (Windsor) for some friendly (read: fiercely competitive) barefoot bowls from 1–3pm. 🎳🍻

Start rounding up your teams of 4 and get your game faces ready. We’ll set up the event in Mindbody soon so we can keep track of numbers.

*Partners and significant others are welcome, as always!*

We can’t wait to celebrate another amazing year with you all. 💙 by @ivan_voronoff1

Two childhood best friends from Petrópolis, Brazil 🇧🇷 find themselves competing side by side, at the exact same time, in the finals of the @ibjjf Pan Pacs in Melbourne.
