Grass Snake | Užovka obojková
📌 The grass snake is a non-venomous snake commonly found near water, where it hunts amphibians—especially frogs and toads. It is easily recognized by the yellow or whitish collar behind the head, contrasting with its olive-green or brownish body. When threatened, it may hiss, feign a strike, or even play dead to avoid predation. It is an excellent swimmer and can remain underwater for long periods. Common Kingfisher | Rybárik riečny
📌 It is known for its rapid flight and incredible fishing skills, often seen perched near water before diving headfirst to catch fish. The common kingfisher inhabits clean rivers, streams, and lakes with abundant small fish and vegetation. It nests in tunnels dug into riverbanks, where the female lays 5–7 eggs. Both parents feed the chicks with freshly caught fish.
