would i go again? ✅
definitely go to try the pancakes once, but personally, once is enough 😮‍💨 i’d happily try other menu items though (hot tip: go during jacaranda season!!)

sometimes you just want a nice dining experience that doesn’t involve heading into the city. @bistrokai is chatswood’s answer to exactly that 😗

famous for their cherry moon sourdough + white soy butter, bc bread w dinner ALWAYS. i don’t do shellfish (although the king prawn pasta is apparently outstanding) so we got the juicy chicken maryland main instead. for sides, get the fries; shoestring, crispy and seaweed seasoning.

GUYS I FOUND THIS APP TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR FAVE (and not so fave….) MATCHA SPOTS 🍵 💚

after being a fanatic explorer of sydney’s matcha spots for so long, i had to rummage through my Google Maps saves, Notes app, camera roll etc when people asked for matcha recs. but now, i’ve found @whiskd.app and my life is SO MUCH EASIER.

cinnamon scrolls: made w cassia cinnamon imported from Indonesia & alcohol-free vanilla bean paste. massive, pillowy & not sickeningly sweet.

these were selling out as each freshly baked tray came out and people were waiting 30 mins just to get one 🫪

matcha is supplied by a lovely elderly Japanese couple who have a local matcha farm in Japan 🇯🇵 it’s premium grade stuff, none of that pre-mixed bs.

their salted banana matcha is the most popular but they have a rotation of special flavours, and you can also choose from 6 different clouds ☁️

i reckon this hole-in-the-wall coffee spot has crows nest’s BEST cheesecake. it’s not easy to bake a basque cheesecake that isn’t overly burnt, still retains its molten middle & tastes SO YUMMY 😌

Tony is a baker by trade - so he comes up with a NEW flavour every single sunday & it’s only available for one day 🍰 if you wanna know this week’s one, it’s in the video!

i got their bestselling crème brûlée 🍮 & blueberry 🫐 basque cheesecakes. my preference was the crème brûlée because of the caramelised flavour, but they’re both JUST AS GOOOOD. oh! and the slices are big enough to share so bring a friend and enjoy them with a fresh cup of ona coffee.

anyway tldr; yummy cheesecake, cute spot, go try 👀

A TRIED AND TRUE classic favourite. this is probably my most-visited matcha cafe in Sydney. the “aoyama” is recommended for your first time, it’s a matcha that is strong enough yet balanced with the sweetness. this isn’t a cafe for sitting & yapping for hours tho so get your drink and scootttt

a newcomer !!! ouji started off as a weekend market matcha stall and now Brigitta & Saka have opened their own matcha cafe in Haymarket. SOSOSO cool and they’re super nice too btw 😎

this cafe ALWAYS has a wait, no matter time, day, rain, hail or shine. i tried their peach matcha (seasonal special i believe) and it was delicious. the matcha itself was nothing memorable but the peach infused cream was very fragrant.

MAN I SWEARR if these guys opened up any closer to me, i’d need to take out a loan to fund my matcha habit. not only is the performance to make the drinks theatrical, they also offered samples of some other drinks so i could do taste tests 🥹 highly recommend. get it if you’re in cabra or drive to cabra for it.

this is more of an expensive dessert-style drink. we purposely made the 1.5hr trip to Cronulla for this matcha. i wouldn’t drive all the way unless you are making a beach day out of it.

if i can sweeten my matcha with honey then you automatically get another ⭐️ i love how the matcha is not too thin even w almond milk, naturally sweetened and… naturally sweetened. i’m just a sucker for natural sugars 🤷‍♀️

this cheesecake is pumpkin-ception 🎃
kabocha basque cheesecake baked inside a REAL pumpkin and it’s the cutest thing ever.

I got the small serve but I honestly think it could’ve fed a lot more than 1-3 people. It’s also made without artificial flavours or ingredients, so it feels a little less sinful than your usual dessert run 😌

The cheesecake is super creamy, topped with chewy mochi and Biscoff crumbs that you sprinkle on yourself, and you can even eat the pumpkin after.

📍Pick up from North Strathfield or get it delivered for free to certain suburbs!
