A free summer program in Isla Vista is helping dozens of local children stay active, learn new skills, and build friendships while school is out.

Hosted by the Isla Vista Recreation and Park District (IVRPD), the nine-week program serves 40 youth through outdoor recreation, arts and crafts, sports, educational activities, field trips, and free daily meals. Organizers say the program provides a safe, engaging space for children to learn, play, and connect with their community throughout the summer.

Summer is in full swing at IVRPD! ☀️🌳🎨⚽

Our free Isla Vista Recreation Activities Program (IVRAP) is bringing 40 local youth together for nine weeks of sports, arts & crafts, field trips, outdoor adventures, and new friendships, all in a safe, fun environment.

From exploring Santa Barbara’s best museums to beach days and daily recreation, we’re proud to provide meaningful summer experiences while supporting local families with free breakfast and lunch.

Here’s to a summer of learning, laughter, and lasting memories! 💚

Score great deals on furniture this move-out season! 🛋️🪑Come to our IV Furniture Sale on Friday, June 19th from 12 PM - 8 PM and Saturday, June 20th from 9 AM - 1 PM.

Did you know we have donation drop-off sites in Isla Vista during move-out? Bring your items in good condition to the IV Community Center or Rottapel Park on June 10-17 from 10 AM - 6 PM. 👚🏀🛼🎹🥫

NOTE: The Community Center location will close at 2pm on June 13th.

This year, volunteers donated an estimated $58,765 worth of time to help care for Isla Vista’s parks and open spaces.

To everyone who joined a cleanup, planted native species, pulled weeds, watered trees, or simply showed up to support the community, thank you.

And a huge shoutout to our volunteer award winners for going above and beyond! 🏆

Environmental stewardship at work 🌱

Volunteers came together at Estero Park this week to support the IVRPD Community Garden Plot through planting, maintenance, and restoration efforts aimed at strengthening local green spaces in Isla Vista.

The initiative was led by IVRPD’s very own @leila.dagan as part of a community-driven sustainability effort designed to create a shared space for education, collaboration, and growth in Isla Vista.
