Last night, we hosted our annual client, supplier and talent event with the team from @deadlyponies

Founders Liam and Steven gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what they’ve been working on and introduced us to the incredible Mr Hoiho. Inspired by one of the world’s rarest penguin species, each bag is crafted from past-season leather offcuts. I was lucky enough to secure one of the limited-edition 100 pieces, which sold out within a day or two of launch.

Even better, Deadly Ponies raised an incredible $20,000 for Forest & Bird New Zealand.

Liam and Steve also generously donated a $500 Deadly Ponies voucher, won by @samhorsnell from @nzicc Sam went home with two Deadly Ponies pieces last year, and added another to her collection last night!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a lovely evening of conversation, connection - and plenty of fabulous shopping.

China - 15 years on…

It’s been almost 15 years since I was last on mainland China.

Back then, we were fortunate to be involved in delivering showcase events for Air New Zealand in Beijing and Shanghai, followed a year later by site visits with Fonterra. I was lucky enough to visit Fonterra’s farms in China, explore some incredible event venues and get a glimpse into a country that already felt enormous, fascinating and full of opportunity.

Fast forward almost 15 years and, wow… what a change.

China has grown enormously. It feels more open, more accessible and, in my experience, incredibly friendly.

I remember being told off by the police at tiananmen square for taking a selfie all those years ago.

Today, everyone seems to be photographing, filming and sharing everything! 📸

I also happened to be here during Golden Week - a time when everyone told us “don’t go to China, the whole country is on holiday!”

Well… we went anyway.

We’ve travelled by plane, high-speed train, subway and countless DiDi rides, and honestly, we’ve never encountered the crowds you see posted all over social media.

China seems to have mastered the movement of enormous numbers of people with remarkable ease. At least, that’s certainly been our experience.

For me, though, one of the most rewarding parts of this trip has been reconnecting with the Chinese clients I worked with for so many years.

Before COVID, I was producing a large number of inbound Chinese events in New Zealand. Then, as expected, that market disappeared like everything else in our industry.

It’s been fantastic to reconnect socially with so many familiar faces, hear what they’re planning for the future and get a sense of where things are heading

We’re incredibly proud to share that I Want Orange. has been working with Young Enterprise to produce and deliver the Young Enterprise National Pitch and Young Enterprise National Awards Ceremony for the next three years

As part of this partnership, I Want Orange. also helped bring Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa on board as a major sponsor. Through #The National Academy of Screen Arts - Massey University Wellington will provide full-service production studios and resources for the National Pitch.

The event will see all 23 regional winning teams from across Aotearoa, New Zealand pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges. Later that evening, we’ll celebrate and showcase the winners in front of an audience of 350 students, partners, sponsors, parents, alumni and special guests.

Young Enterprise is so much more than a student business programme. It’s a hands-on experience that takes students from an initial idea through to running a real business - building confidence, creativity and entrepreneurial skills along the way.

Highlight from 2019 🧡

For the past 20 years, our Event Director, Colin, has produced and delivered these prestigious awards alongside our clients at Property Council New Zealand.

This incredible partnership saw attendance grow from 600 guests in the early days to a staggering 1,610 guests in 2026 - up from our usual 1,580.

Feeling very grateful to TVNZ for the invitation (end of last year), to join the hosts of TVNZ Breakfast Show and share my thoughts on how corporate end-of-year celebrations are evolving.

From the golden days of lavish, no-expense-spared parties to today’s more purposeful, experience-driven and values-led events, it was great to talk about the shifts I’m seeing across the industry and what that means for brands and teams.

I won’t lie… I was super nervous. First time in front of the cameras instead of behind them and hearing the questions for the first time while live on air (brain froze a few times)😅 But it was an incredible experience and such a privilege to represent our industry on a national platform.
